Many good QBs have had good defenses backing them up. It's not like you're going to get a ring with a sucky defense.

Our defense is young & inexperienced in 2020. That's not going to continue to be the case.

Just saying this to temper expectations for 2020. Of course they will get better as they get experience.

Biggest issue the Panthers had in 2019 was turnovers at the QB position and run defense. Panthers had a -14 turnover differential in 2019. 35 giveaways to 21 takeaways. When Kyle Allen was protecting the football, the Panthers were winning. Then he turned into a fumble and interception machine. Bridgewater will probably help in that area. But I think it might be optimistic to expect such a young defense to expect to get 21 turnovers again in 2020. And the run defense....who knows if that will get better.

He was still recuperating from one helluva catastrophic injury. You know, context does matter.

Context didn’t matter in those posted stats lol- being carried by all pro RB and top defenses.

All he is is a mere game manager on a team that needs much more than a game manager to even compete.

Not really.

Game managers need excellent talent around them.

Not sure if you've noticed, but there is a crap load of talent on our offense.

The offense is definitely the strength of this team. A game manager QB like Bridgewater can succeed with one of the best all-purpose RBs of all time, a pretty good trio of WRs, and a young innovative offensive coordinator. If Bridgewater can minimize turnovers and just get the ball to the playmakers on offense, this team will at least score points.

Defense is going to take a couple seasons.

True!

Bridgewater doesn't generally turn the ball over. That shouldn't be underestimated.

It's not like Bridgewater played with the Steel Curtain. And, bottom line, crappy defenses don't win championships!

Show me a team without a good defense, and I'll show you a team that makes an early exit from the postseason, if they can get there at all. The Teddy-needs-a-defense argument is effectively a nonstarter for me. All good QBs need a good defense to maximize their competitiveness, especially when it matters.

Teams led by Bridgewater are:

31-9 (78%) ATS
25-15 (63%) straight up

That's the best ATS mark in the NFL.

  Spoiler Alert!

Don't bet against Teddy.

How is his career record only 22-12? Those numbers don't add up. Are they counting games where he's coming in half way through games?

You might want to look in to that carried by an all pro rb statement a little more. Peterson had one full season with TB, 2015. 2014 Peterson had a total of 75 yds.

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
