Still pumped we got him in round 2.  Was SURE Hurney was going CB---I personally think he will be awesome--and we just signed Shareef Miller-his old position teammate--so maybe he will elevate Miller.

Gross-Matos, Chinn, Brown, and Pride is starting to look like a damn good run through the first four rounds.  Pride has been flirting with the 1s in practice--the others could start.

Why not start him? By mid season he and Burns could be a legitimate duo.

There's always the proverbial rookie wall to worry about as well as just getting physically beaten early on.  I want to see the rookies but I want them to be smart about it

Yep. Weatherly might be a decent rotational piece a la Wes Horton but if he's starting you're lacking. Throw the rookie out there and let him learn on the fly.

That would be huge for us. Do we then say it’s Matt knowing these guys from colleges because Hurneys sucks at round 2-3.

I think that needs to be the philosophy across the board. Get the youngsters as much experience as possible, knowing they will get burned a lot in the beginning.

Very possible. The Seahawks had some incredible draft classes in the early years after hiring Pete Carroll from USC.

It's the perfect year to do it. Expectations are nil.

This paragraph tells me all that I need to know about Gross-Matos: 

"They give you a whole new perspective," Gross-Matos said. "Even just listening to the way they ask questions. Some things that they know and that they think about, I've never heard before. So I'm just trying to pick their brains as much as possible and just try to take all the good traits and put them in myself."

Yep. Don’t think Rhule’s intimate knowledge of him didn’t play a part. Just like Brady knew about Brown and the only D that held LSU under 36 points. They had 23 and Brown had a sack and 2 TFLs against the top college OL. So much of my optimism for the D selections rests in the fact that I don’t think Hurney had a ton of say. It’s funny that the XFL guy got cut and in 2018 Hurney went all gung ho on AAF players instead of UDFAs so maybe he’s got a thing for these random leagues and it hasn’t worked.
