In their opinion, only the Browns are worse.

Much as I acknowledge we're a team that has a lot of work to do, I don't know if I'd say we're that bad. Not so sure about putting the Patriots at number three above the Seahawks either, honestly.

Looking down the listings though, I have to admit there aren't a whole lot of teams right now that I could look at and say, "You know, they're really good".

I know it’s early but I’m just glad the Browns and Bengals play each other. Someone has to win. Same with Miami and the Jets and Washington and the Giants.

I think we may play the lowest amount of bottom teams competing for the top draft slots. I think Jax is not likely to get the top pick. Not only did they beat Indy, but they play the Chargers, Dolphins, Bengals, Browns, Lions and the Bears. If they didn’t suck they’d have a cake schedule. Same with the Browns, half their opponents are teams with a chance at a top 5 pick.

We may still have a shot gentleman. Lol!

I have said this all along simply based on our schedule.  The jags winning coupled with our "defense" propelled us into the lead

I’m sure some will hate this discussion but the NFC East playing the AFC North is really helpful because that means Washington, NY, Cleveland and Cincy all have 4 games against each other. Jets might be the biggest comp but they get Miami x2, Cleveland, LV at home and the Chargers. We’re done with LV and have Washington, Chargers and Lions and only the Lions at home.

Right on queue, here’s a new ESPN article that has us at pick 3 behind Cincy and the Giants: https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2021/story/_/id/29682741/projected-2021-nfl-draft-order-no-1-pick

Not sure I agree especially since Cincy plays the Giants so someone has to win and they also still have Cleveland x2, Jax, Washington and Miami. That’s 6 more possible wins. Also, maybe a resting Baltimore week 17. Our week 17 against NO is also a potential pitfall although you’d hope we wouldn’t be stupid if we were in position. Giants probably are more of a threat but playing Washington twice and Cleveland/Cincy helps.

Oh well, still a long ways away as I don’t think we are a bad team, just don’t have an easy division or schedule.

Neither of those two teams would take a QB.

That espn draft link is pretty bunk.  As you describe they are not factoring the scheduling.

Not Cincy for sure unless Burrow looks like trash. I know Rosen was a reach but Arizona went Murray the next year and actually made the right call. Jones is still up in the air. I do think that if we do get behind teams, these two are the best ones if you want to trade up. One problem is what other teams have. Jax has two firsts again and I think an extra day 2 pick. Miami with Tua is not likely to mortgage their future picks, maybe the same for the Jets if Darnold isn’t half bad. Problem is that Lawrence could get too many teams more than willing to go all in. Anyway, great point on these two.

It’s so early but I’d think that FPI should take that into account. Anyway, our first 6 games are the “easy” part of the schedule as long as NO has something to play for. We’ll know soon if we’re in our out of the hunt.

I know you’re not a fan of the Teddy signing and don’t think we can win a SB with him but some here do (myself included) which really makes this draft interesting. I also see your side of it though (I was totally against the restructuring of KK which made cutting him impossible essentially). But anyway, here we are...

Lets say we continue to lose more games like the way we did Sunday. Offense looked good, Teddy did his job and so on. So if that happens and the Panthers feel as if they don’t need a QB after this year, if Lawrence, Lance (I like him more than Fields) and Fields all go top 3 it leaves some real studs sitting there 4-7...

Sewell (legit day 1 LT), Parsons (a complete, explosive ILB), Rousseau (stud defensive end), and J’Marr Chase (would do wonder to our offense).
