It's my hope that we get a shot at one of these three QBs. Lawrence is a pipe dream as I agree with others that the NYJ & NYG are on a whole other level of suck than us......maybe even ATL too.

I think whoever of Fields/Lance that isn't selected ahead of us will be available. Either player would be a franchise calibre starter for the next decade for us and would give us an exciting Newton/Mahomes/Watson type of signal caller here.

I am also of the opinion that we will be in every game this year and could end up closer to 7-10 as we are 3-6 in the draft order. Rhule and Co. actually make adjustments throughout the game. They gamble enough that it pays off and once CMC is back and Teddy gets more comfortable, we could be looking at a 5 or 6 win season.

Regardless of where we pick, there will be a franchise cornerstone for us to take....

Lawrence

Fields

Lance

Parsons

Moses

Surtain II

Wade

Sewell

Chase

lol “if anyone is willing to watch” and “I’ve only seen highlights”...

It’s always the biggest mouth breathers who are the loudest.

I have seen a lot of Lance and I like him more than Fields. Lance doesn’t have much to gain from this showcase game. Even if he balls out people will say it’s because it’s Central Arkansas. He has more to lose. Regardless a lot will ride on his pro day.

Lance vs Chinn...

I agree-said a month or so ago that he is better than Fields---his reads are unreal, his burst is incredible, and he has a nice release.  Most running QBs have poor footwork in the pocket--he doesn't.  Fields is a good player, but I think Lance is the future of the QB position in the NFL.  If we drafted him, I would be very happy-but we are going to need 5 solid OL.  Hurney is going to have to address it.  We have 1.

Cam was at a Community College to be fair. While Lance is at a D-2 school. A little better competition. A D-2 school that has beat a poo ton of FBS schools, mind you.

Technically, it’s still Division one. FCS is what used to be called Division 1-AA before they changed both D1 levels to FBS and FCS. There is still a D2 and D3 level in colleges, that didn’t change.

Yeah, they designate it FCS, then put 1-AA in parenthesis while looking at the NCAAF schedule on ESPN.

Fields was the highest graded passer on pure drop backs last year of any QB in the country and that included Burrow. And he did it against much better competition than Lance. Lance could be solid but I just don’t see how you can watch full games of either and come to the conclusion that Lance is better.

Trey Lance played in 16 games last season. He had 9 games where he didnt throw the ball 20 times. In 5 of those 16 games he was under 60% completions. He had just one game over 30 throws. I believe they won the championship game with him throwing 10 times or less.

Fields played much better competition , 14 games, only 2 under 60% and all games but one had over 20 attempts. Fields also scored more touchdowns in less games despite not playing after halftime in 4 games and not playing the 4th in 6 games.

I see 6 teams outside of us that could go QB R1:

Jets, Lions, Vikings, Broncos, Jaguars, Redskins

Surprise/Wildcard Teams:

Falcons, Colts, Raiders, Steelers, Bears

At the end of the day, when you take a step back, we're simply not as bad of a team as NYG, NYJ, or the Broncos.  They are atrocious.  Best case is getting pick 3-5 methinks.

Overall, 11 possible teams going QB with us likely falling somewhere in the middle draft wise and then factor in all of them not actually going with a QB come draft time.  SO--I can see 2-3 being taken if we win some this season.

Could be looking at Ehlinger or Trask.  BUT if we're around #10-15, I wouldn't mind trading up to secure Fields or Lance if we really covet one of them.  People need to get over this Lawrence thing, he's not football Jesus.

Good points.  I see the Jaguars, Bears, Raiders, and Colts as the teams with the biggest needs at QB.

I see the Steelers as a possible shopper, but I think they will grab a developmental QB that has some value--Newman, for example, is unlikely to go in the first two rounds, but he could develop.

I see the Jets, Redskins, and Broncos as teams that may want to build around young qbs rather than go after new ones.

I think we should look to pick about #6-8--like last year.

Worth noting he ran 30 times for 166 yards in the national championship game. I remember another college QB who was great at running it too.

He could be one of the top 3 QBs taken in 2022 if he plays and shows out. Equals millions of dollars.

But hes already going to be one of the top 3 QBs taken in 2021....whats the difference?  Why go back to school and risk injury or a down year, when you're already going to be one of the top QBs taken?
