Boston/Whitehead

Whitehead is terrible.. But Boston has made some plays and is definitely the leader of the surprisingly solid secondary and defense..

Ppl love to hate on a player when they don't understand how the position is supposed to be played... But reality is he is the oldest and most experienced member in a hurt and very young secondary and he is doing a solid job holding them together..

Exactly!

Boston is still a willing tackler, too. Whitehead is usually either completely out of the play or just jogging back to join in the pile a pick up an assist.

Whitehead needs to be benched.

On Whitehead it appears the coaching staff realize that he sucks. His percentage of defensive snaps has dropped significantly since the start of the season.

Week 1 - 90%

Week 2 - 72%

Week 3 - 64%

Week 4 - 53%

Week 5 - 54%

Very slight uptick in week 5, but there is a definite inverse correlation between Whitehead’s snap count and team defensive performance.

Agree that Boston is a leader and he is really the glue back there. He could play better if he wasn't always trying to help everyone else out so that he sometimes is way out of position. He needs to trust the corners to do their job and do his own.

As for Tahir, he tries. On some of those Gurley end arounds he was in good position and knew where the ball was going but he was too slow to get there. I think he has good instincts and awareness but he lacks the speed and athleticism to.make plays like Luke did. The problem is you can't coach speed or athleticism. You have it or you don't.

Here we go fake ass bravado from a nobody.. I don't care what credital you make up.. Your opinion doesn't matter to me.. I can see with my own eyes that a group that was supposed to be the worst in the league is holding up.. And some credit must go to the unquestioned leader of that unit.. Plus he is making plays.. He blew up a RB and TE screen today.

Wasn't you the one talking about people hating but not knowing how the position is played. You must have rode the bench. On the outside looking in, I smell fake too, and WOW it's coming from someone else's opinion who doesn't matter.

As for the topic, boston is a place holder. Rhule will replace him after a while, he's a piece, and hes working for now. But he is god awful in the run game and in pursuit, pretty solid about being in position when in coverage though and that's what you need out of a free when you got a hitter like Chinn at Strong.

Loosen up bud. You could get colon cancer with all that tightassness

    • I love Chubba.  Been a fan since I heard about his story when he was at Ok St.  and no doubt his production and progression is impressive, but this is my one nitpick - he was always touted for his speed, having come from a track background, so I am honestly surprised he doesn’t have more breakaway runs for TDs than what he has achieved thus far.  But to be fair, it often feels like he is constantly having to break tackles, so when he breaks the last one where it would just be nothing between him and the end zone, that usually took long enough that a defender from the opposite side of the field got an angle to catch up.  I really hope with the receiver additions, Bryce moving forward with confidence and proving that ending stretch last season wasn’t an aberration, and another year of synergy for the OL, Chubba is gonna have some wide open running this season.  He is definitely special.  Proud of him and happy he is getting rewarded for all his hard work…
    • Didn't i say passing other cars?
    • If you're in the left lane, look to the right. Is there someone beside you? Are you soon overtaking someone in the right lane immediately ahead of you? No and no? Then get the fug over. That's how it's supposed to work. Doesn't matter if you're going 100.
