Teddy to DJ - Poetry in Motion

I think DJ's slow start (which hasn't even been all that slow he's on pace for like 1200 yards...) can be directly attributed to the lack of reps he and Teddy have gotten together due to the COVID offseason and no preseason, etc. Teddy already had familiarity and chemistry with Robby and it has shown, and Robby has shown he's clearly capable of being a 1a/b WR, which is fuging amazing.

Said the same sort of thing yesterday...

Chemistry takes time to build, and we had no preseason.

The good side is that a strong run after catch receiver like Moore is very well suited to the kind of attack we run. So if Bridgewater and DJ do get on the same page, it could be really strong..

I think “dink and dunk” is what’s best for the team given our o-line situation. Teddy may have missed some throws but which QB doesn’t? I like his quick decision making, and the scheme, as it helps negate the pass rush. I always hated when teams scheme to beat our pass rush by dinking and dunking, but now I’m glad our team is finally doing it to other teams to their advantage. No sacks in 2 weeks with this O-line would’ve never happened during the previous regime.

All this talk about "dink and dunk". Tom Brady and Belichick dink and dunked their way to 6 superbowls.  Saints have been dinking and dunking their way to the playoffs for years. This offense is rolling and honestly is the best I've ever seen our offense to start the season. We finally have a legit offense and people still want to complain about Teddy "dinking and dunking", missing some reads, or missing some throws. Teddy threw for over 300 yards on 73% completion and had 2 TDs, and people harping over his 2 or 3 misreads.

What I love about this play in particular is how it further illustrates the way Joe Brady thinks.  Remember, over the last week everyone was demonstrating how Joe Brady has been using the underneath drags all the way across the field?  I'm sure the Falcons noticed this trend.

So what does Brady do?  He draws up a play that *fakes* the drag and goes the other direction.

That's creativity, self scouting and adjustment coming together to create something for the team.

The thing about his being a "dink and dunk" quarterback it that we're running a "dink and dunk" offense, so realistically what else would you expect him to do?

We've gone from having a quarterback who was expected to be a primary playmaker to a quarterback whose job it is to distribute the ball to the playmakers. It's an adjustment, but if you look back over the Super Bowls of the past several years, you'll find an awful lot of those guys.

The best QBs take what's given but those Super Bowl winners can also exploit breakdowns downfield and in this small 5-game sample size we have yet to see that from this offense. Who knows if those routes were even a true option on these plays but seeing some instances where these types of gimmes are capitalized on will be very convincing. No question though that Teddy's play is driving the passing game.

Yeah that a totally blown coverage and as you say if Teddy saw it would have a long gain. But the play was always going to the other side to avoid the all out blitz. Would have been the icing on the cake

The kind of creativity and game time adjustments that could’ve won Super Bowl 50...

Yea Teddy was probably anticipating the Pressure and thought he had favorable matchup with Anderson and rushed the throw.

He's been really good at reading his progressions this season so I'm not worried. Plus he's a student of the game and will learn from miscues.

I’m sorry, but how is that play some sort of miraculous throw by Teddy? I mean it’s awful if he misses him, but that was a great move and terrible secondary play. Teddy had a great day but that wasn’t some unbelievable throw. I mean he never looks off Moore, clearly the first read, has no pressure and makes a good throw. Moore and the Falcons DBs make it a great play.

I get building up Teddy but do we have to act like Cam or Delhomme never made good throws?

X Clown was an infinitely better throw.
