The future of Joe Brady

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Brady is smart. He won’t leave Rhule until he is very comfortable that he will not fail as a head coach when he leaves Carolina. And this will be for at least several more years. Brady has learned from other young coaches who have tried to be the captain of a team at a young age and failed and subsequently derailed their HC chances for a long time. He doesn’t want to make that same mistake.

Brady fits the trend of young offensive minded coaches. I think his resume is better than Zac Taylor, even Kingsbury

Kingsbury had years of HC coaching experience before he made the move to the NFL. His defenses always sucked, but his offenses were usually top tier. He had at least run an entire program before. Joe Brady has been a coordinator for less than one season thus far. He's got a 'better' resume in part because it's smaller, but also likely because he's been shrewd about what opportunities he's chosen. I think we'll definitely lose him, but probably not until at least 2023-2024. Of course it's all opinion/speculation, but I think he'll cement himself as a top NFL OC before moving on to head coach.

After seeing Kliff Kingsbury getting a HC job after getting fired with a losing overall record at Texas Tech (even having an overall losing record during Mahomes' time there)... man, that changed things for me. That was a real head scratcher.

Sean McVay probably had a lot to do with that (indirectly).

The HC market is no longer rational because of Sean McVay. Everyone wants the next offensive boy genius. We’ve had Taylor, LaFleur, Kingsbury all hired with less than stellar resumés in the last couple years but they fit the McVay archetype. That is Brady right now and Brady has enough resumé for someone to make an offer. Readiness be damned.

I'd agree.

Not saying Joe Brady won't ever get a head coaching job. I just think Eric Bienemy will become a head coach in the NFL before he does. But who knows the falcons are a dumb organization.

I'd be willing to bet Bienemy goes to Houston and does decently with Watson. He's without a doubt going to be offered a job this upcoming season.

there will be plenty of openings this offseason for both and a few others to become HC

Yeah but none in the NFL and just took over for Sumlin who learned from Holgerson and continued using the same offense.

Either way we will see at the end of the season what happens, the nfl is crazy for coaches like Brady right now and they will be a ton of openings
