Lamar Jackson says defenses are calling out the Ravens plays

The Ravens rank only 23rd in total offense, including 31st in passing, and Lamar Jackson does not look like the same quarterback who won the MVP award last season. He has 12 touchdowns, four interceptions and a 95.1 passer rating, while running for 469 yards and three touchdowns on 79 carries.

The quarterback said Wednesday on the Rich Eisen Show that the Ravens are too predictable.

“They’re calling out our plays, stuff like that,” Jackson told Eisen, via ESPN. “They know what we’re doing. Sometimes, stuff won’t go our way, if they’re beating us to the punch.”

Yes, Jackson confirmed, other teams are calling out the Ravens’ plays.

“Yeah, they definitely do,” Jackson said. “Like ‘run’ and stuff like that. ‘Watch out for this; watch out for that.’ Sometimes that’s what’s going on.”

I don't see how you're blaming the opposition knowing the plays on Jackson...

Roman's response is essentially that it's nothing new, pointing out that Ray Lewis and Ed Reed used to do that all the time. "Part of the chess match" he calls it. He also added that empty stadiums make it easier to hear the calls.

Regardless of who you put it on, it sounds like quarterback and OC aren't on the same page.

Luke called out opposing offenses' plays a ton, some players who study film like crazy are able to do that. It's not necessarily a huge problem. I'd agree with Roman that it does happen and in some cases there's not much you can do about it, short of changing all of your plays which makes no sense. If it's happening enough to become an issue for the offense's production, then yeah I'd say it's a problem. Whether that's the case in Baltimore, I have no idea, I don't watch them enough. My guess though would be that a drop in Lamar's play from last season's historic level is more to blame than the plays being predictable. But again, I really have no idea that's just my guess.

I would agree. though to be fair, it's one thing if a special player like Luke is doing it. If everybody is doing it, that's a problem.

Again though, we've really only heard from Jackson and Roman. And even Jackson's comments don't necessarily say exactly how many teams have been able to do this

Pretty typical when you have a one trick pony and everyone knows the trick.

i agree about luke, but a good Offensive coordinator, or in the saints case their playcalling coach, abused luke with his study habits.    payton and brees constantly tricked luke.   point being its on roman.
