Lawrence and the Jets...

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

While out grabbing a snack, I heard Kyle Bailey say that some people were starting to take the idea of Trevor Lawrence "shunning" the Jets seriously.

Took a look around the web to see what I could see, and it seems that the New York media at least sees it as a real possibility following some recent comments from Lawrence that he's open to the possibility of staying in school for another year.

Of course, people also speculate about him coming out but simply refusing to play for the Jets. I'll grant that's possible, but it seems less likely (at least at the moment).

Either way though, Lawrence making a move to avoid the Jets would have near seismic level implications for this year's draft. And there's plenty to speculate on about how it might affect us.

I wouldn't blame him and he's started making some statements backpedaling on his previous statement of this definitely being his last I'm college. Now, I absolutely think that it is, but that could be the first shot across the Jets' bow. Their meeting with him isn't going to be the typical grilling of a prospect to see if you want him. It's going to be a recruiting pitch to sell him on the future of that organization.

I was a big Baltimore Colt fan back when Elway did it to the colts.   I have hated him every since.

If you are a No. 1 pick you are going to a terrible team.

You are likely going to a bad team, but maybe not a bad organization.

The Jets are a bad organization, somehow more dysfunctional than the Chargers, Raiders, and The WFT.

Is the Jets organization that bad, or is it primarily Adam Gase?

Their GM is only in his second year.

I think it's the ownership group.

I still don't know how they had some success with Rex Ryan and Butt Fumble, but outside of those years, that team has been BAD for a long time.

It’s a bad owner. That owner repels good coaches and bad coaching, of course, destroys young QBs.

He needs to shun them. He has no chance of ever getting a good cast around him.

Definitely within the set of possible outcomes -- and this isn't new news.

His teammate did it last year (not necessarily to avoid a specific team, just wanted another year of college).

If they screw Trevor out of the Heisman the chances only increase.

The Jets are a dumpster fire on equal standing with the Bobcats and that's saying something!

    • Oh I was.  But we still had great players.
    • You keep AT unless he WANTS to get traded to a contender during the season.  He's valuable, TET, XL, and Coker need to learn how to be PROFESSIONALS on game day, practice, and the off-season.  That's what you get from AT.  ADDITIONALLY, he is clutch.  He is steady.  At is that savvy vet who will always flash. I really think they keep 7 WR's if Brycen can operate on special teams.  Week 1 you may see us heavy on WR and OL because of the massive amount of injuries across the league.  Renfrow may even be cool starting on the PS since he lives close and wouldn't need to uproot his family.  You can still make nearly 400K as a vested veteran on an NFL practice squad.  You see more veterans hanging around since the age limit was lifted. I think the 1st 53 and PS looks like so...... Offense: (25) QB (2) Young / Dalton RB (3) Chuba/Rico/Etienee WR (7) T-Mac/XL/AT/Coaker/Renfrow/JHjr/Brycen TE (3) Tremble/Sanders/Evans OL (10) Icky/Lewis/Corbett/Hunt/Moten/Brady/Mayes/Yosh/Zavala/Kingston Defense: (25) DL: (6) Brown/Robinson/Turk/Bobby B/Cam Jackson/Sam Roberts OLB: (5) Wonnom/PJ2/NicSic/Princely/Incoon ILB: (5) Rozeboom/TW/Windmon/Cherelus/Bam CB: (5) Horn/MJ/CSW/Thorton/Evans S: (4) Tre'Mo/Ransom/Demani/Scott Specialists: (3) JJ/Fitz/Martin Last spot: Right now I have it as a toss up between DJ Johnson and Bam.  Until NicSic can come back we need an extra edge.  Do we utilize TW more as a blitzer from the middle to keep Bam safe?  I'm not worried about DJJ getting picked up from another team, a little more concerned with Bam. Practice Squad: DavidMoore/JamesMitchell/JacolbyGeorge/Tuttle/Crumdley/Ray/DJJohnson/Kantra/Carter/Blacksheer/ Wright/KrysBarnes/MichaelReid/Safety pick up/RB pick up/QB pick up
