Does a game like tonight's change your opinion on trading up for Lawrence

Yes, it's ridiculously unlikely that Jets would even consider it as I doubt Lawrence snubs them like Eli did San Diego. But let's say that did happen and we'd have an opportunity to get Lawrence for a fair amount of draft capital. I would not have realistically considered it before tonight, but seeing the D start to come together and the O being wasted pretty much only because of Teddy, my mind has changed a bit. Place Lawrence on this team right now and we're a playoff team year in and year out. Wouldn't be easy to give up other draft capital that could still help to improve our D, OL, etc. but I think it's clear that QB is by far the most pressing need and it could be worth it if we had the opportunity to get a guy like Lawrence. Just pondering here...

That'd take everything short of Matt Rhule's firstborn.

Why? If Lawrence snubbed the Jets they would have no choice at all. If we get to pick 4 (very possible), that's not that far of a drop for them and they would be sending him to the NFC instead of AFC. It would take a fair amount (something like 1st and 2nd this year, 1st next year), but not something crazy that would cripple us in the future...

The trade they would ask for would probably make the Herschel Walker trade look like a good deal.

That, plus we're not guaranteed the #4 pick just yet.

I think the asking price will be 3 1sts and 2 2nds. Any thought about 2 1sts and a 2nd is laughable. Maybe that might fly in a year where there isn't a bona fide star qb expected to go #1. But not this year. So you ask yourself, would you rather have Lance/Wilson/Fields (whoever we take at our current spot) plus 2 firsts and 2 2nds, or Lawrence?

But he's not going to snub the Jets. They are going to have a fresh new coaching staff and have a poo ton of picks to work with from the Adams trade as well. They also have a staple OT in Becton and a promising young WR in Mims. We have this debate every single year. "WILL THE TOP PROSPECT SNUB THE WORST TEAM?"... No... no, he will not. It simply doesn't happen.

You could actually argue the Jets are a better situation than us. Our brain dead GM did nothing about two promising young players last year in Samuel and Moton. So instead of signing them to reasonable extensions or moving them for future assets, we'll lose both for nothing it's looking like. Jets all of a sudden aren't sounding so bad.

This is a bad take.  Departure of their awful coaching staff aside, the Jets are still a dumpster fire.  Our roster is much more promising than there's by far.

EDIT: Which is not to say I advocate trading away a king's ransom to move up for Lawrence.  I say stay put and if there's a QB available that you think will blossom into a franchise QB, you take him.  If there isn't, you choose someone else.

    • Yes, first drive was a good run, a sack and a 3/13 Bryce threw for 9.  Then we punted. 2nd drive - 23 yard deep pass to XL (who caught it) - Great pass by Bryce and good catch by XL 26 yard Chuba run - Great run by Chuba 3 yard Chuba run - moving the sticks 6 yard pass to XL (who caught it again) - moving the stick 26 yard run by Chuba - love a balanced attack!!! great run 1 yard run from Chuba - moving the sticks Incomplete pass by Bryce.  5 yard TD pass from Bryce. - Good job by Bryce in the red zone. This was a very good series early in the game where Bryce, Chuba and the team played very well. No turnovers by Bryce.  Chuba had a fumble in the 3rd. Next series: 4 yard run 24 yard pass 15 yard run 8 yard pass 1 yard run 2 yard run 3 yard pass 4 yard run 5 yard penalty Field goal good.   Bryce did not have a very good 2nd half but not horrible either.  He didn't make any mistakes that cost us the game.  He had a 24 yard scramble and a TD pass to Moore called back because because of an illegal formation. That was and is positive progress so soon after he was benched.  All around good team win and while Bryce didn't ball out he had a number of good throws and scrambles and didn't turn the ball over.
    • The defense doesn’t even matter, really.  When we are down 3 scores before anyone has taken their first sip of Gatorade because the offense won’t stay in the field, what does any of it matter?
