Where is Kyle Trask ranked in this year's draft? He's looked good tonight.

I'm of the thought that if you aren't comfortable drafting a guy at 4 but feel better drafting him later in the 1st or early 2nd, especially at QB, then you don't take that guy at all.  If you feel he's your guy, you would take him as early as you can, and if you're not sure he's that guy, you just don't take him.  Guys like Trask, Wilson, and Jones seem like those type of guys to me, which is what makes me rather avoid them.

It's a viable notion.

If the jet will trade for a couple of 1st and 2 and cmc I would do it in a heartbeat but the chances are low. I am leaning more towards lance cause I am concerned with Wilson’s durability issues he already had Sutton his throwing shoulder plus I think lance has more up side and has the speed for bootlegs and moving the pocket.

I definitely understand this viewpoint. Trading down to nab a guy later in the draft sounds great in theory. But, you run the risk of getting burned if another team grabs your guy, leaving  you empty handed.

I only raised the question this post because of our play at QB this season. I haven't watched much NCAA in 2020. I've seen every Panther game except the 2nd Tampa of game and tonight's game in Green Bay. I see we lost another one score game tonight. Carolina has lost several of them because Teddy was unable to make a big play in a crucial time in the 4th quarter.

The general consensus on the forum seems to be we need a game changer at QB, a guy who is capable of consistently throwing the ball downfield and stepping up in clutch situations.

Is there a guy besides Lawrence capable of doing that in this year's draft? If not, do we need to wait another year before drafting a QB?   I mentioned Trask because he never seemed rattled tonight. He wasn't afraid to push the ball downfield and made some impressive throws. He was also willing to lower his had and run when he needed to. Alabama really had no answer for him other than to score nearly everytime they got the ball.

PS...He's at Florida, another school that doesn't produce any standout QB's at the NFL level...and that worries me.

I think if you trade down, it should be to get more picks. Trading down while still targeting a specific guy sounds pretty risky.

And yeah, if you like him, just take him.

I've done that on Madden and got burned.  It left me bummed out for a couple of hours. I cant imagine how if would feel for that to happen to a GM conducting a real NFL draft.

I'd trade 3 firsts for Lawrence idgaf. I can't watch anymore of Teddy Bridgewater.

It might take more than that. We still need offensive line (C, OT, and OG), linebacker, FS, CB, TE, and another DT plus some real depth. We can’t afford to get him and leave all these holes on our roster. Fields, Wilson, or Lance would still be upgraded and one should be available when we draft.

None of that matters if Tiddy Pusswater is still under center.

I just personally don't like any of the other projected 1st round qbs in this draft.

He kind of reminds me of another Gator, T-Bow but I don’t watch much college. I would take Fields as of today.

Please don’t compare The Golden Calf of Bristol to Trask. Trask has the ability to make the football spiral. The Golden Calf of Bristol inherited a National a championship team. Florida has been a B level SEC team since Urban left.

Trask has a weak arm. He’s a good college QB, but he will not do much in the pros. He just doesn’t have the delivery speed.

I think one thing is for sure.  Even if we win another game there will still be qb options to choose from no matter where we are picking.  My gut feel after last night seems like Wilson is the better fit.  Damn fields looked terrible under duress.  He was jittery.  I thought both mac and Trask looked good but man its so hard to tell.  But make no mistake I firmly believe we take a qb and he is starting as soon as he gets his sea legs.  Teddy is done at this point

    • Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.
    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
    • My top-5 JAGS: 1. Tommy Tremble: May not ever be top-tier, but has been solid and you never doubt the effort. 2. Cade Mays: Not bad for a 6th rounder. Hated to see him go. 3. Brady Christensen: One of the most versatile backup OLs in the NFL. Hopefully we re-sign him. 4. Trevis Gipson: Quietly was really solid depth last season. Glad we brought him back. 5. Brycen Tremayne: Has been solid depth at WR, flashing at times last year.
