Trey Lance, not Kyle Trask, is the other QB we should be talking about

If Jones wins the heisman/comes close and then destroys the CFP, that's the guy were going to be talking about throughout the draft process, probably moreso than the guy who didn't play this season

not saying it's right or wrong, I really don't know the answer to that, but it is what it is.

As I've said, you don't check off all those boxes and then quietly go 5th or 6th in your position group, that just doesn't happen

winning a Heisman isn't really a box that predicts success at the next level

Jones is intriguing to me. He could actually be there at 37 according to some mocks. If we could get Surtain in the first and him in the 2nd, if be stoked.

He’s too close to good player on the best team so he looks good.

Idk if this is sarcasm or not but I mean... exactly lol. Anytime a QB has this combination you buy at least some stock into them

I honestly don't.

Eric Crouch was a guy with amazing physical skills, but he wasn't a quarterback at the pro level.

Physical skills fade faster than others do, especially for quarterbacks that take a lot of punishment.

I put those skills in the "nice to have" category, but if you don't have the more essential quarterbacking skills first, it's gravy with no potatoes.

Finding an athlete is easy. Finding a quarterback is a lot harder

Lance > Lawrence ...... dont @ me

Hahahahahahahahaha. Thanks for the laugh, needed that. It’s OK to say we have no chance at Lawrence and that if we want a QB we are settling for a level below that. Unfortunately, Lawrence won’t do anything at the combine because I’d love to see his 40. The ND DBs weren’t making up any ground on his TD run. @LinvilleGorge mentioned before that Lance isn’t really fast so I’d have to say there may be nothing that Lance is better at than Lawrence is.

I’d be happy with Fields, Wilson or Lance if we really like them, but after this season’s games including yesterday, Lawrence has absolutely shown he’s a level above those 3.

Others echo this or have in the past, people with loads more draft knowledge than both of us. Im not going to let Lances one bad game cloud my judgement nor allow other top QBs privilege to play right now either. DJ spoke about his reasons for ranking lance over Lawrence early on here- https://www.si.com/college/clemson/football/nfl-draft-trevor-lawrence-clemson-justin-fields-trey-lance

It was just for hits. And yeah I believe he ran a 4.9 when he got to NDSU.

wow, you got me, that is exactly what I said in my last post and you've offered a precise rebuttal in turn

I'll give you that you said "right or wrong", but my response was in response to your statement that checking that box will cause him to not go 5th or 6th.

I'm not convinced that by him winning the Heisman he will go in the top 4.

He big. He fast. He throw ball really far.

And he threw 0 INTs his first season as a redshirted freshman while winning a championship. Yeah it was against weaker competition, but so did Steve Young, Steve McNair, Kurt Warner, Tony Romo, Jake Delhomme, Carson Wentz, Josh Allen, and Big Ben just to name a few.

Rumors are hes faster, I believe they claim hes a 4.6 guy(I dont). I seen Daniel Jones in all his glory run away form DBs this year, hes a 4.6 guy. Besides Im not thinking he can do a 2015 cam/2019 lamar impression, just extending plays is what I believe hes able to give.  He should got faster since his freshman year too.

    • Dennis Rodman’s son lands Summer League shot with the Hornets   The Charlotte Hornets are coming off a promising 2025 NBA Draft class and will enter Summer League with no shortage of new faces looking to make an impression. But the most interesting addition didn’t come from the draft board. Instead, it’s DJ Rodman — the 24-year-old son of Hall of Famer and five-time NBA champion Dennis Rodman — who’s bringing some extra attention to the Hornets’ Summer League roster. Rodman played four years at Washington State before making the move to USC for his final season.  He wasn’t exactly lighting it up with the Trojans, putting up about 6 points, four boards, and an assist each game. But he did shoot well — hitting around 41% from the field and draining 36% of his three-pointers.  Standing 6-foot-6, he’s got the size to play on the wing and offers some versatility, which could be just what the Hornets are looking for as they try to fill out their roster. The Hornets’ Summer League squad already has plenty of fresh faces with this year’s draft picks and young guys fighting for a role. But Rodman’s last name alone is enough to turn heads, and now he’ll get his shot to prove he belongs once the games tip off in Vegas. Charlotte’s Summer League team is already drawing interest with recent draft picks and young players hoping to crack the rotation. But Rodman’s last name — and his potential to bring energy and toughness — adds another layer of intrigue. What Rodman lacks in college stats, he makes up for with hustle and competitiveness — traits his dad was known for throughout his Hall of Fame career. If he can bring that same energy and show growth in Summer League, he could carve out a role and surprise some people. Though the odds are against him making the Hornets’ final roster, there’s no denying the spotlight that comes with the Rodman name. The Hornets kick off Summer League next week in Las Vegas.   Dennis Rodman’s son lands Summer League shot with the Hornets
    • At this point, I only care what he does in 2025.
    • Question to the posters on this thread because you are knowledgeable--I love watching and pull for the Canes, but I never played so I don't have the understanding I had when I played football then watched it.  Having said that, Do you think we are weak at Center?  I see the team to be pretty strong on the wings, promising defense, and weak at Goalie.  It would be ideal if the Canes had 1 more position to upgrade, not 2.  I don't think you can count on Anderson to play a full season and he is 35.  However, are we solid at Center in your view?
