Borrego is looking more and more like Clifford and it might cost him his job..

I understand having your favorite but sooner or later how they are playing has to be a factor in minutes and rotation... Also understanding what team you have and matchups should be a job requirement for a head coach..

You don't have a contender but a very young team trying to establish a culture and identity.. So playing Biz this much and not giving any time to your young bigs is stupid.. Being so  committed to a small lineup when facing premier bigs like Embied  is stupid.. Bad coaching..

Graham is in a deep slump and this same coach barried Bacon under the Bus for less last year.. While the clear future of the team proves Game after Game he is ready for more minutes and more opportunities...

Last  Monk not getting any minutes due to the Twins is stupid.. Comparing his talent  his draft position and even his trade value to the twins is not even close... Why are you wasting a asset on the bench when we need to make a decision on him soon?

I don't understand Borrego this year which is crazy because I generally like what he has done here..

I agree with everything he just wrote. I have been super impressed with Borrego, but he doesn't seem to be handling minutes well at all. I feel like he plans out all his subs and doesn't deviate. If someone hits 3 in a row, but it's their time to go out instead of riding the hot hand he will take them out. This drives me crazy. If someone is hot, keep them in the damn game!!

I actually don't mind Biz' minutes this year just because he has been playing well. I would give a young guy the backup Center minutes. The PJ at the 5 experience just doesn't work with true Centers.

I like the minutes for Jalen but please do not put Cody Martin on the floor unless we are up by 20 and need defensive stops. He is absolutely a huge negative on offense. Caleb will at least try to give you something on offense but I do think Monk should get their minutes. Nobody can talk about defense when we are allowing 110+ pts per game.

we need graham playing at a high level

and the martin twins are giving us nothing

Yeah Graham's been by far the biggest disappointment. He could be worse, at least he's contributing assists and even some rebounds for a guard, but the scoring and shooting percentages have been unbelievably bad. It's definitely time to give Ball those minutes.

I'm not a fan of the Martins at all, but I actually think they've been decent at times the past few games. They should not be playing as many minutes as they have but I'm fine with them being at the end of the rotation. Not sure what's up with Monk but if/when he's back hopefully he can take some of those minutes too. He looked damn good down the stretch last year but then the suspension, now covid and migraines... Not ready to give up on him and he should definitely still be given a chance to contribute well ahead of guys like the Martins...

My biggest issue is the handling of the rookies right now. Why are we pretending like the #3 overall pick on a perennially bad team needs to “earn” his minutes over guys that have not helped the team win? It’s not like we were a playoff team so idk wtf all this bullshit is about pretending like we have some superstar players that make it hard to find minutes for our top 3 draft pick. It’s fuging stupid and everybody sees past the bullshit.

The Martins are trash and Devontae Graham is just not the future of this team at PG. Been happy to see Ball’s minutes increasing, but he should be the starter. Ball and Rozier actually pair well together. I know there was a lot of talk of trading Terry, but I would much rather trade Graham. Problem is that Graham doesn’t have much trade value. Our best starting lineup is Ball, Terry, Hayward, and then any combination of Bridges/PJ/Biz. It feels like Borrego is just not doing it for very stupid reasons. Somebody needs to tell him he isn’t Popovich, this isn’t San Antonio, and we don’t have Tom Duncan.

And players like Vernon Cary and Monk need to be getting minutes before anybody with the name Martin. Would like to see Richardson get at least a small amount of minutes rotating with Biz as well to see if we’ve got an actual center on the team or not. We need to be developing our young talented players. Playing the Martins is a complete waste of time even when they don’t poo the bed.

I would keep Rozier but shop Graham.  Ball needs to start and Monk should get more mins.  The Martin twins should see the floor in mop up duty only.

I dont see anything really special with Borrego as coach.  Same ole same ole game in game out.  Very mediocre coaching IMO.

caleb martin has a 17.9 player efficiency rating this season. those of you wishing to see his minutes trimmed are not thinking about winning basketball, because the dude has been playing fantastic.

monk is a coked up bust who has seen his 3P% fall every year he has been in the league. they tried to give him an extended audition to get comfortable last season and gave him 20 minutes a night and there was nothing there worth troubling over. he might go somewhere and have a jeremy lamb type impact, but you're not looking at a future starter on a good team. he's a reserve that is going to have to come in and shoot the lights out. the problem is that he hasn't humbled himself to his future and still believes he can be a star. there are far less problematic bench players.

the issue with our bigs is that we don't have any young bigs worth playing if we're trying to win games. mcdaniels is raw and has shown promise, but he's not ready for showtime. vern carey is the same type of situation. it's still my opinion that we should have jumped up after wiseman if possible, but that's water under the bridge. lamelo looks a lot better than i expected him to be and props to him. zeller and biz were supposed to hold that down this year until help arrives and that rotation will be back in swing once cody gets healthy.

devonte is obviously in a cold streak, but it's not surprising with the bench pressure from lamelo. he's a catch and shoot specialist and the league has discovered that if you make him put the ball on the floor and get his points at the cup he's not anywher near as effective. his 2P% is like .150 this season which is more troubling than his problems from deep. there again he's the type to go 17-25 on 3P the next two games and make his season numbers look a lot better. he just needs to put his head down and play his game and not worry about his minutes or his starting role. it's honestly just a matter of time with terry playing like he's playing and lamelo doing what he's doing. take a breath.

speaking of terry, that man is building some considerable trade value with the way he's playing. the quality of hoop he's giving for less than $20 mil. is incredible. one of these playoff contenders is going to notice the sweetheart deal he's on and try to get involved. very fortunate we didn't deal him prior to the season. i think he's a little outside the age range we're trying to build to be competitive with bridges, washington, lamelo, devonte, etc. but he's a bucket.

as far as lamelo, i don't think upper management liked how he came in trying to influence his minutes and get in the coach's ear about what he was trying to do and how he wanted to be used as a 19 year old rookie. i think the call to have him come off the bench is to prove a point to him about who's in charge up here. this ain't chino hills. to be honest he needs that, because you want to see him getting more involved with the success of his teammates. it has been awesome to watch his budding relationship with miles, but he needs to win some hearts in that room and being a good sport about a support role is a damn good way to do it. you have to remember we're building for the long haul here and these first 40 games of his career might be frustrating from a talent standpoint because he can play up here and it's clear, but they're not going to let a rookie walk in here and toss him the keys. you do that, you just inherited a new GM. he has to learn the business side and how important it is for your teammates to play for you. show love, get love.

We've got something in Melo & Bridges together.  And that duo (along with just Lamelo's presence) could attract a top talent who'd want to shine from LB's amazing passing and facilitation.

PJ needs to step it up and Graham needs to get out of his funk pronto.  And we should definitely sell Rozier on the high right now/pre-deadline.

I also like the undrafted Martin twin, but think the one that can't shoot needs to go (Cody).  He is Thybulle-light.

Needs another year but Borrego has been disappointing with his rotations and minutes.

Lamelo-Rozier-Bridges-PJ-Biz seems like the best starting 5 right now.  We still desperately need a legit center/forward and I'm a bit up in the air with PJ.  I actually think it could be prudent to send him to a contender for picks in return.  He has a lot to bring as a role player but think we need to position ourselves to get another top talent alongside Lamelo.

Coach B seems like he’s afraid of starting the rookie over the vets because he doesn’t want to hurt feelings or confidence.

Melo looks like he’s the only player who can actually attack an opposing team right now and he’s been in the nba for 5 minutes.

It’s like they’re scared of his potential and ability, it’s kind of bonkers to me

Do you realize Melo is averaging more minutes per game over the last 5 then any other rookie? Whether in blow out or close game the minutes are what is important.  That NBA teams had a condensed preseason.  That the Hornets need Graham with confidence and playing well whether starting or off the bench?  Melo in the starting lineup is coming. Maybe Graham getting on track expedites that. Obviously, the starters are not meshing. But advanced stats for lineups aren't kind to anyone across the board.

More important are players (not named Rozier) being able to catch passes from Hayward and Melo and actually score.  Coach needs to tell Hayward that we need him taking 18 shots per game and also put him in position to do that. Do not be shy on the 25th ranked offensive team in the league.  No more worrying about fitting in.

The teams defensive rating is dropping fast. Players should take more pride on that end of the floor.

Basically, Melo is getting great minutes and experience.  On track within his first 10 NBA games to be the starting PG with the ability to hold it for years to come.  All while not losing the locker room.
