Talanoa Hufanga SS 6’1 220 USC

Hufanga displays excellent blitz skills and can also rush the passer displayed excellent Form tackling and excellent balls skills he’s definitely a great in the box safety and is not afraid to hit you at all. Plenty of plays in his highlights that display him read and reacting with proper form tackling and will stick his nose in any sweep or screen play. I think if you can pair him and Chinn on run downs even in coverage whew watch out

Definitely a 4-6th round guy

2020- 62 TOT 40 Solo 22 AST SACK 3 FF 2 INT 4

Idk we have so many needs on the team currently, I would put safety as one of the lowest needs that we have. The draft needs to be focused all on O line and QB, and if we were to go defense, LB and CB is much higher on the list along with DT depth because we really have low options other than Brown (KK will be cut)

Covered everything but QB, which is the most important. All 4 were gone, I traded back ftom 8 to 12 adding pick 43. I traded back from 43 to 51 adding pick 75.

After the presser today I believe we focus more than 3 picks on offense.

I would imagine our Free Agents are going to be players that have reached the end of their rookie contracts and are hitting the market.

According to Rhule we need to get younger on the offense.

Once we find out who we lose and who we sign than we can determine what is our priorities are.  Offense will be the priority.  Do I think all  7 picks, probably not but most of them.

Who is our qb in 2021 in this scenario?  Also wilson is dropping like a rock due to his lack of effort and lack luster play.  He didn't build on his 2019 season

I would rather have a great cover corner than a great cover safety.  Basically, if your corners are good, your safeties simply need to be smart.  This is what made players like Mike Mitchell and Kurt Coleman look so good here.  Our corners were pretty good, so the safeties needed only play smart football.

Yeah, Wilson is first round talent, but as you said has dropped. He was picked here in the 3rd round. Wilson had a tough year, but I still think his skills work nicely next to Brown.

I don't even want to mention QB in this scenario....lol.  Unfortunately this mock had all 4 gone to Jags, Jets, Patriots trade up, and Lions.

My plan here was to plug other holes, then go all in for Rattler or Howell next year

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
