Not sure where they get all this $ from but honestly resigning Moton is really the only priority and allows for DJs upcoming contract. Sorry but Samuel and Okung just aren’t worth paying for and I’m not even sure the Panthers could if they wanted. Just too many holes in cap hell to pay ‘when healthy’ players and a luxury WR.

A dual threat WR isn't worth the money.   He is a dynamic WR that can also has the ability to run the ball.  You can't let your 1st and 2nd round draft picks walk after you have spent time developing them.

We aren't the farm team for good teams.  To be the best you have to retain the good talent that we draft.

BUILD THROUGH THE DRAFT.  NOT DRAFT, DEVELOP and let them walk to another team.

Not worth the money in cap hell* and DJ coming up. Nothing to do with how good they are or knocking them by any means.

Also the Panthers are not a team that builds through the draft and haven’t been since early 2000. We kinda are the farm team.

If they want to build through the draft it’ll be a while before all their failed FA money gets off the books and probably have to start doing a better job paying the players that should be paid. That said I’ll take Moton and DJ over Samuel and Okung.

terrible free agents this year

That’s why I think Samuel should get us maybe even a 4th. There’s a lot of good WR FAs but almost all look to me like they’ll get paid by their current teams and not actually be on the FA market.

No thanks unless they are available after the comp picks deadline. I think right after the draft you can sign any UFA and it doesn’t count. We aren’t competing this year. We need to add as much talent in the drafts as we can in 2021 and 2022. We already screwed up the 2021 comp picks. We had a 3rd and 5th go away due to Teddy (gave the Saints a 3rd too) and Weatherly. We dropped from a 6th to a 7th, if we even get it, due to Burris. We lost a 4th for Anderson but he was worth it as I think we might be able to extend him and he’s only 27. We need to be bargain shopping and save as much cap and comp picks as we can. Compete in 2022 and after like we should have this year.

I just vomited in my mouth looking at these absurd contracts they've projected for the Panthers. Moton would be ok and Reddick is not egregious although I'm not entirely sure how he fits, but all the others are absolute garbage. I think Tepper should print these out, bring them to the GM interviews, ask what they think, and if they don't immediately laugh at their absurdity, cross them off the list.

I just don't see the upside of resigning Okung.  When he's on the field, he's fine.  But he is not on the field much, and with Father Time creeping in I expect that will get worse, if that is possible.  He does us no good watching the game, let alone watching it in a warmup suit.

I have no idea why they think we need Williams, especially at that price.

There is upside if you get him at a cheap, one year rate. But I think the odds of that happening are very low. We don't even know that the team wants him back.

I don't agree that we won't be competitive in 2021.  If our draft picks perform as well as the 2020 group we'll be competitive.  Especially since Brees won't be in New Orleans, Atlanta will be in full rebuild and Tampa depending on what Brady does after the season.

Compensation picks in 2022 are nice but not necessary.  If we fill the roster with some solid Free Agents and draft well we'll have a solid team.

We said the same thing this year talking about Teddy and Okung and the rest and we weren’t. Maybe we make the playoffs but we’ll get bounced. You can’t count on “if our draft picks perform well” as a reason to splurge in FA. That’s why we have little cap space to rollover and will have spent almost double on Teddy than what we did on Matt Kalil (since that’s the contract most used as our horrible deal). We did it in 2018 and 2019 trying to patch with some expensive FAs. We should have had an actual plan for 2020 because in reality you are saying “we could” be competitive not that we are. How about we draft 2021 see how they do, save cap for a splurge and then if 2021’s draft is in the 2020/2017 vein we splurge in 2022? We don’t even know who our 2021/2022 starting QB will be.
