Of fuging course they would. Good God dude. Our players would have been furious and let down.

I think the two circumstances are different.  Hurts actually turned the Eagles into a competitive team.  Bridgewater was struggling, and benching him would have been more understandable.  Benching him for Grier instead of PJ might have raised some eyebrows, but not to the extent that pulling Hurts did.

No one around the league would have noticed or cared if the Panthers benched Bridgewater for the Washington game for Will Grier. Panthers had a sure bet to tank on the bench.

lmao you play any sports before G?

Of course, not professionally same as anyone else here. Business of sports a big difference there G. Eagles aren’t going to fire Pederson this is all for show because of the backlash. The move to bench Hurts probably came from higher up than Pederson. Tanking is becoming common in pro sports. LMAO

I wouldn't think so, but how do you fire him for something you told him to do?

Gotta figure it'd be extremely hard to keep that a secret.

It's not like Pederson would likely ever work in the NFL again if he called the Eagles out for it. The NFL wants guys who are willing to quietly fall on the sword if need be.

I'm guessing a lot of people at this point are thinking his Super Bowl win might have just been a perfect storm.

That's a lot of people's take on Gruden in Tampa. Lord knows they only went downhill after 2002.

With Gruden, the problem is he wants to be the head coach instead of the OC.

As a career OC, Gruden could probably have been one of the all time greats.

I simply can't agree with any of that my guy

Does he work again in the NFL again either way?

Hiring him would be a PR nightmare.

Definitely possible.

I know by the time he was done in Tampa, the players there absolutely hated him.

Sounds like Pederson is the scapegoat...no way a coach does that on his own, knowing players want to win. He might’ve just done it a little more obvious than the owner wanted, but it’s a big story now, and they don’t want to compromise the integrity of the team...although I would say the fans do that alone for that franchise.

100% he will. Nowhere near the PR nightmare that Gregg Williams should've been.

Williams didn't tank though. I suspect fans have more tolerance for cheating than they do for tanking.

What it'd probably take would be somebody like his old mentor Andy Reid to throw him a lifeline.

Gary Kubiak retiring after Broncos win in 2015 probably the shortest run. Tom Coughlin didn't do much in New York after the second win,  luck and a good defense had a lot to do with both in my opinion.

That first SB was definitely had a leprechaun watching over it.  That was the legendary helmet catch to stop an undefeated New England season.

Folks about the "one size fits all" version of tanking---there is a huge difference between deciding to play your future players and get them some game experience and do some talent evaluation while trying to win, but realizing that you are probably sacrificing the chance for a W.  On the Huddle, FANS were hoping the team would lose to get a better draft pick, realizing that it would/could benefit the long-term success of the team.

This was a case of a coach who deliberately THREW the game on NATIONAL TV by making in-game decisions that sabatoged the team's chance to win.  He was trying to lose and he betrayed his players.  The difference between the FANS wanting the team to lose through productive player evaluation while trying to win and the COACH throwing the game is significant, and apparently LOST on some of you.

While I understand that this has been your personal stance, please go back through some of your fellow tankers' comments. This is like someone trying to blame antifa for the Capitol riot when they just wanted to "audit the vote." A vast majority of those same individuals rooting for the team to lose would critique good plays because it could affect draft position. They didn't want to see growth, they wanted to see scorched earth.

If there's a healthy balance, let's go! Problem is, unfortunately, that folks cannot compartmentalize and it becomes just a dumpster fire of bitchy fans on the internet. Hell, there were even tankers saying players sucked when their teammates got them killed. Like... that wasn't their fault AND it was an outcome that the tanker desired, so why are they still not happy?

Try not to personalize it. It's the same for folks that supported Bridgewater during the season because he was the team's QB and they wanted to see everyone succeed being ridiculed for supporting bringing in a rookie QB this offseason (it's me, I'm folks).
