If Jones is being criticized for his supporting cast then lance is undraftable

He's criticized because he's not that good. He's not a difference maker for them. Every year ALA rolls out a QB and some of the best skill position players.

And traditionally when those QBs hit the NFL the fizzle out.

Lance has much more potential at the NFL level, has the frame, the arm, and elite athleticism. Jones is likely more pro ready, but it's doubtful he'd be a better pro.

Man, it’s hard to tell with Mac. What is clear after these playoffs is that if we don’t walk away with at least one offensive lineman from one of these Two Squads, we screwed up. We’re going to have our shot at them if we want them.

I gotta be honest, OSU's interior OL disappointed last night and they were disappointing even before Wyatt Davis went down.

Speaking of Wyatt Davis... what we saw from him last night (and Devonta Smith for that matter) is why so many kids sit out non-playoff bowl games. Smith's injury shouldn't really impact his draft status but it looked like Davis likely blew out his knee. He'll probably go from 2nd rounder to a 5th rounder if that's the case. Hate it for that young man.

Let's see how he tests.

Let's see how he interviews which is more important than how he runs or throws in shorts when no one is coming after him. We have had plenty of games to see him play and after 1 year as a starter he looks like the real deal.

Rodgers and Brees are hella athletic.

However, much like Brady, they win with ALL their tools and have set an impossible bar to be compared with.

Rodgers, I agree. Brees not so much. He was never anything special as an athlete.

Granted, all NFL quarterbacks are athletic on some level, even guys like Tom Brady, Joe Montana and Jake Delhomme, but quarterbacks that are known for their athleticism more than their actual skill at the position don't go far.

I get your point but if you pass for 4500 yards on 78% completion than you have talent regardless of who is on your team

Did you watch the game? The vast majority of his stats last night were throwing to a wide open Devonta Smith and throwing screen passes that several of them required borderline circus catches from Harris. That was a microcosm of the entire season. The boxscore looks amazing. The actual play... meh.

You think Jones is as good of an athlete as Aaron Rodgers? LOLOLOL

Rodgers ran a 4.7 flat. Jones will be lucky to run a 5 flat, if he runs at all.

And let's be honest. Let's say he does run a 5.0. Do you think 3 tenths of a second matters at the QB position? It isn't like Rodgers is trying to outrun people. It is more important to be able to move in the pocket and avoid getting sacked and Jones did that pretty well when he was pressured and he got the ball out quickly.

His highlights are above.  Had threw screens.  Mid range.  Deep and outs.  Had also had great ball placement and total command of the offense.  I am not advocating taking him at 8 but just saying these hot takes that he sucks is comical.  He has talent.

wow thanks for this fleshed out deconstruction of his latent skillset

why do I find myself skeptical that somebody whose primary assessment of a QB centers around such obviously typical little brain fan points of interest like "frame" and "mobility" probably isn't providing me with a deeply analytical take on the more essential and less visible components of the position

When you put him on a team that isn't head and shoulders above the competition I don't think it's going to be pretty. Don't get caught up in the results, look at the traits. I just don't think they translate. He's probably a mid-late round prospect if he wasn't playing at Bama with that supporting cast. Granted, that doesn't automatically mean he won't be a successful NFL QB. We've all seen successful mid-late round (and even UDFA QBs) QBs, they're just the exception not the norm.

This.

I just watched the first half yesterday, but he essentially just handed the ball off yesterday. Yes he went through his reads, he also had 10 seconds to do it.  I don’t see anything different from him and Bridgewater (Mac is not deathly afraid to go deep, only difference I can see), both of them  needs a ridiculous supporting cast to succeed.
