HE LOVES THE CAROLINAS  he was the best at clemson , hell want to come back here . remember the little things mean alot to dehsuan , he wants the family oriented team that the panthers and carolina brings , just sit back and well get watson

Tepper sees himself as a "closer" and someone who "gets his guy"

 

I have no doubt we will pursue Watson if Tepper sees fit. He would put butts in seats, sell a fug load of jerseys and we would immediately be a team that has a guy who can win a superbowl. 

We don't have the assets MIA has though so I have a hard time seeing this become a reality

It wasn't the stay that frustrated Cam, it was the exit. In fairness, the franchise made the right move by moving on. If Cam had a Pro Bowl season though, im sure this line of thinking would be a concern. 

 

Also, Cam might be the reason we are on this short list of Watson's to begin with.

So, he wants out of Houston so bad that he'll refuse to get traded to some team...ANY team?  Agreed he has to waive the 'no trade' clause, but if he has a ticket out of Houston I doubt he'll turn it down even if it were to a crumby team such as the Jets.

These QBs have huge egos too, he's not going to think he can't win here.

We have several advantages:  Geography, a possible reluctance of Texans to trade Watson to AFC, and an owner who after some poo seasons since he bought the team who might be fed up with listening to "football people".  Oh and a big hunk of crap currently starting who has made it abundantly clear he can't win games.  We just have to hope Miami isn't as desperate and willing to part with as many picks as us

Here the root definition of a NTC: A no-trade clause is a contractual clause that allows players to veto trades to certain teams. ... 

This is basically free agency for Watson.

Except it's limited to like maybe 2 teams with the desire and ability to make the trade. Which makes it not free agency at all. He doesn't get to determine how much the other team offers.

I get it, but if he REALLY wants out of Houston that bad, he's not going to be too choosy.  That was my point.  Watson is going to have some say, but ultimately he's going to take some offer that the Texans are comfortable with to.  The Texans can play hardball as well.

Bingo. TBQH, I am not sure I would want to trade one completely hopeless rebuilding situation in Houston for a mildly more hopeful rebuilding situation in Carolina.

Miami, the Pats, San Francisco all seem to fit the bill for winning situations. Perhaps the Colts?

But, we also have to consider places he wants to live, how much the Texans are willing to trade him for, who they are willing to trade him to, etc. This is going to be a fascinating to watch transpire.

      After listening to Morgan's presser twice, I came away with some key beliefs. First of all, I don't think he's a bullshitter. What you see is what you get. When he says something, he means it.  The Teppers really have evolved as owners. Morgan has mentioned how they're easy to work with--a pleasure to work with a few times now. There seems to be a good relationship between all of them (and include Dave Canales on that). We'll see if it lasts. Yes, no one wanted to come to Carolina with the previous management, but that seems to have changed. The team signed arguably the top Edge, LB and OT on the market, two of them on pretty good deals and one on what I'll say is "not a bad one." And, credit Sunshine Dave "Flowers and Cotton Candy" Canales for helping to change the culture. Morgan mentioned getting guys--and I'm paraphrasing--that are not only great football players but great people. Don't look for us to be acquiring any James Pearce types anytime soon, just saying. We'll see if that holds true in the future. Dan Morgan really has set up the Panthers to take the BPA/BAP. He mentioned it at least a couple of times, and he doesn't seem pressured to pinpoint a particular position. He just wants quality players that will help the team. This is how it's going to be (to your joy or dismay, probably for as long as he's here), and personally I love it. Many of us know how Morgan was when he played: aggressive! That's what he's going to be when making acquisitions. He explicitly said it, and emphasized it. All avenues are open (think FA, waivers...the draft)! Personally, as long as it's controlled aggression and not reckless aggression, I love it.  On KP: "Mobility is big in this league."  He basically says if another QB is the BPA while drafting--we're going by our board, people--we're going to add them.        ...

      I like Morgan's approach but I'll wait for a few winning seasons before giving too much praise.
