Derek Carr.  Now THERE'S a contract we could take on.  Carr has done nothing but get steadily better over the course of his career while playing in one of the most disfunctional franchises of the last 40 years.  There's a player in Carr.  Not sure I'd give up pick 8 for him, but I'd give our second rounder for a two year tryout on a guy who looks like he has all the tools.

Honestly I'm not sure about him. I think you can find a Derek Carr in the draft, with a few less years on them and on a rookie contract.

I wouldn't mind kicking the tires on him either, but I don't think it's in the cards with Teddy's contract.

Teddy's contract is a barrier to ANY veteran QB coming in.  It's gotta go away.  That's why I'd give a second round pick.  You take Teddy, our 2nd and we get Carr and the remaining two years on his contract.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if the Raiders just plain cut Carr.  I think that's a HUGE mistake.  Would you really want to cut a QB with this 2020 season?

The Raiders are a bad Franchise because of bad choices like you're pointing out with Carr.

I don't think they'd take Teddy though, which means we're stuck. Not saying I wouldn't do it if they would, I was just simply pointing out the reality of being stuck with Teddy at the moment.

Oh, I don't think it's LIKELY.  Just as I don't think it's LIKELY that we bring in any veteran QB.  We just can't afford it with Bridgewater here.  Anything we do has to be with TB5 on his way out of town as well, which makes our situation even more difficult.

In teaching, there's this point after the school year ends that a portion of teachers get put into a big pool and moved on to different schools. Some want to go, some need to go, some need to be out of teaching, some are just headache employees.

The reassignment of the teachers is called "The Dance of the Lemons" and some schools/principals get lucky and find a new gem. The rest are just hoping for someone who will do their job and show up. The rest just sit there are watch as the bottom end of the spectrum just gets dumped on them. But every one of those teachers will enter the dance with shining recommendations from their past principal as those prior employers want desperately for someone to snag them so they don't bounce back home.

I think this year's QB free agency is definitely a Dance of the Lemons episode. Perhaps we ought to stick with our picks and sit this one out.

Probably an unpopular opinion at this point, but I think Jared Goff can still be a great QB in the NFL.  Accuracy doesn't disappear, and Goff has loads of it.  His decision-making has been atrocious though, but Los Angeles shouldn't just give up on him.

I think he'd be a great fit here personally.  Unfortunately I don't really want to trade for that contract.

Honestly. I spend a lot of time in CA and I watch the Rams a d chargers more than I want to...the guy is terrible with pressure...deer in the head lights.  Better arm than Teddy, slightly more mobile but the same guy

no thanks

It's possible.

For our part, we run what I'd consider to be a quarterback friendly system.

I think we can agree that the three scenarios that work out best for the Panthers are:

1. Trade for Deshaun Watson.

2. Trade up in the draft and get one of Fields/Wilson.

3. Trade for Matt Stafford.

I put these in the order of my preference. You may have yours, but it appears these are the three. Unfortunately, I wouldn't put the Panthers as the leaders for any of the three scenarios. If that holds true, I don't want the Panthers to pick Trey Lance, Mac Jones or anyone else in this year's draft - at least not in the first three rounds or so. Just seems like a higher potential for a bust and a waste of a pick.

In that scenario, I could live with Teddy for another year or maybe try to accumulate another 1st round pick for 2022 to gain more draft capital. I'd rather they not reach for a QB.

Crazy predictions of how this QB carousel could play out.

First the belle of the ball.  Deshaun Watson will be traded to the NY Jets.  Darnold, a 2022 1st round, 2023 1st round and the 23rd pick this year.   Next the jaguars take Lawrence.  Atlanta takes Wilson at 4.  Detroit trades Stafford to the 49ers for Jimmy g, the 2021 43rd pick and a 2023 3rd round pick.  That does not stop them from taking Justin Fields at 7 in the draft though.  The Patriots sign Fitzpatrick in the off season and draft a young QB none of us were talking bout in a late round.   Rivers, Brees, and yes Cam retire.  Dak gets franchise tagged.  Goff and Wentz stick around for a bit longer.  The Colts sign Mitch Trubisky in free agency on a prove it deal.  Las Vegas catches a falling star in Trey Lance at 17.  The Redskins draft Mac Jones at 19.   Rodgers quits bitching after a new contract.  Bears are stuck with foles and his ridiculous contract.  Last but most sadly for some of y'all the Panthers keep TB for one more year and draft Jamie Newman as a developmental guy.   I know I likely missed some folks but...

So you think Mike Mayock and John Gruden are going to take TB's and his contract plus a 2nd?  Why not offer a 2nd round pick and be done with it.

We played Oakland.  They saw how bad TB was.  No one is going to take TB off our hands.

There isn't a team out there that is going to take Teddy Bridgewater off our hands.
