You must not have been paying much attention in 2015 then.

There were multiple articles posted that year from guys like Jared Allen, Peanut Tillman and others praising the chemistry in the Panthers locker room. Guys talked about it being one of the best they'd ever been in.

That was one year, and I’m gonna throw the argument people keep using at me about disgruntle players being cut, well those guys happiness had a lot to do with the fact that they were long tooth vets who didn’t get much interest elsewhere and were overjoyed Rivera loves to pay and play them.

The "long toothed" guys weren't the only ones saying it.

Heck, that was the season you had all the guys getting together for team pictures on the sidelines after we won (and sometimes even before).

Everybody was having fun that year.

Lol cam fans still butthurt

No one blasting Watson how he’s treating the Texans just jumping ship after just getting paid and not getting his way - whether you believe he’s justified or not

No one blasting players chasing fat contracts or not giving hometown discounts...cause ‘family’

spare me the bullshit ‘it’s a business’ all players seem to understand this chasing fat contracts but when the FO makes business moves that benefit them all of a sudden players are ‘done wrong’

They took a big gamble. And here we are drafting at 8.

Anyone think Watson could ask Eric Reid about Carolina? We know he's really into social justice and all that jazz, and Tepper is the only one who took a shot on Reid, allowed the kneeling and is a very socially aware person, especially when compared to all the other owners. Could Watson call Eric up about coming here, and advise him to?

Just something else to think about

Tepper kind of used Reid as a pawn in order to make a statement and then dumped him with multiple contract years left when the new Coach wasn't on board...would be interesting to know what Reid thinks.

lol I can see why an obsessive Cam fan thinks they took a big gamble

but in reality it’s the contrary, they avoided the big gamble and didn’t pay cam the commitment he wanted to stay, and thank god for that

they took a small, short term gamble on TB and he has one year left

having a losing season/high pick is irrelevant and would’ve happened either way, any somewhat coherent fan already knew this, it’s called rebuilding, it’s the blueprint and Rhule’s MO

Instead they paid Teddy Bridgewater more...for less wins...and now want to move on

Have you met him? Know anything about him? Just curious

Because the one thing I can tell you 100% is that he values his relationship with Cam, someone he’s known and looked up to since he was a kid.

Its not that he absolutely wouldn’t come here, it’s more so why would he? He can pretty much pick his next team without any negative marks associated with that team. In other words if everything else was equal that’s absolutely a thing that could tip the scale and I know that for a fact.

I trust this man fwiw

The problem with the way they moved on from Newton was that we were supposed to replace him with a "competent" NFL QB that could win us games. They didn't do that and Newton ended up winning more games and putting up similar stats on a team that was devoid of MUCH MUCH more talent especially on the offensive side of the ball. Had Cam stayed last year this team probably wins 9-10 games. They signed Teddy and barely won 5. Awful.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
