Ben makes little to no sense for us. He is rapidly declining, he don't have a line currently that could protect him adequately and his cost doesn't make any sense whatsoever for a 1-2 year deal outside of a veteran minimum contract.

At that rate, why wouldn't he just sign cheaply somewhere that could actually bring him a title?

I’m not out here pining for Big Ben but if he is willing to buy in what we got going on. I’d pay him good money for a year or 2 but for the sake of the argument I agree it doesn’t make a lot sense for him ... but hard to say no to a SB who produced last year with 4th 5th stringers..

He isn't the future of our team, he isn't going to be here for the future. There is no sense in having an aging "bridge" QB in our current situation.

Not to mention it doesn't make any logical sense for him as a player. He has played his entire career with the Steelers. Were he to leave, I imagine he is going somewhere to chase a title next season. That isn't us.

Agreed it is kinda Of pointless .. still would love him if he is emotionally available for a 1 or 2 .. but like you said they ain’t no reason for him to come at all. Oh well

Funny...a few years ago he created some drama by hinting he might retire.  Now he is begging for another year and may not get it.  LOL.

He wants that last 30-40 mill check!! He looked completely shot to me and I remember him showing up to TC KB fat seven years ago. He should retire like his fav center just did, Drew Brees looked better imo.

Ageeed he would be down the priority list .. but to outright say no when your current QB is teddy bridgewater is like a homeless man scuffing at someone trying to give a tiny home

It's more like saying no to a tiny home with a leaky roof, broken windows, broken heat, inoperative plumbing, and precariously perched on a hillside that is sliding.  Sleeping under the bridge sounds pretty good.

Ben has already hung on a year or so too long.  We would be talking about bring in a broken down QB based on what he did years ago, and putting him behind an OL that could barely protect TB for 2.5 seconds a drop back.  What could possibly go wrong?

And not for nothing, but welcome to the board.

Given the fact that your posts on this thread have been rational, I assume you are new!

thank you for that comment

Ironically I’ve been a member for several years .. but years of creeping on the board. And built up tension for craving panther talk .. but the best of all I see the panthers making major grow in all departments football related ..I do believe we have a motivative and very smart owner. And the culture he is building is only going to get better and better

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
