Again, I get that people don't like hearing that what they want to happen might not happen, but even if I posted nothing but "it's happening" gifs, it doesn't change anything.

John McClain was on the KJZ show this morning as I was driving in. 

A) He says the Texans have zero interest in a Teddy Bridgewater, Drew Lock level quarterback. He mentioned those two by name.

B) Watson was in Miami this weekend partying with several Dolphins players.

C) He still thinks the Texans hang onto Watson, but IF traded he would still rank NYJ and MIA as the most likely destinations.

Interesting that McClain is including Miami now when he previously only talked about the Jets.

He sounded like he's still mostly thinking the Jets, but he certainly understands the appeal of Miami. 10-6 team. South Beach. Brian Flores. 

According to McClain, the MIA offer depends largely on what Nick Casserio thinks of Tua who Casserio would have scouted last year as the Patriots evaluated the QB market.

I've thought about both Miami and San Francisco as options specifically because of Caserio.

He has connections with both those teams in Brian Flores and Adam Peters. Plus both can offer starter quality quarterbacks (though not elite ones).

Of course, none of that matters as long as the Texans stay firm on the "we're not trading him" thing

When it comes to trade negotiations, the average NFL team is about as reasonable as a no loan shark discussing interest rates.

No I get it. He is arguably the 2nd most valuable player in the league. There is only so much we can offer and still be competitive. I just don’t see the Jets, Niners, or Bears offering anything better. Dolphins were a worry (extra first rounder and higher than ours plus Tua etc....), but it seems like they are staying out with Tua.

This is the corollary Mister Scott refuses to address.  It might so happen that Dolphins/Jets view the 2nd and 3rd QB out of the college ranks so favorably that by their calculus, it isn't worth a trade for Watson that includes picks/players anywhere close to what's rumored for Carolina, three 1sts + CMC, and thus would not want to match it, when they feel that the college QB + keeping those picks is better to build an elite team now.

Meanwhile that plays into us trading for Watson, because from our perspective the 4th or 5th QB off the board isn't that valuable in Tepper's eyes, and thus a trade calculus including those multiple 1sts is in fact worth it.

We definitely don't have the draft capital those other teams do. If they want defensive players, we can offer one of the better options in Brian Burns but not a whole lot of people like that idea much.

Logically speaking, even the best quarterback offer is gonna be a step down. Of course, if a team had a quarterback on Watson's level, what would be the incentive of trading for Watson?

TExans dragging their feet will also play in our favor as Miami and SF feel they are contenders this year so they will want to address and solidify their QB situation sooner than later, whereas we can afford to wait however long.

Prescott is the only player that might fit that description, but he is not as good as Watkins, imo.  I think Dak is overrated, frankly.  Has had a good OL, WRs, and RB in Dallas.   Still can't win.
