If I was them, McCarron would actually be my 4th option.

1 = Watson after he changes his mind

2 = Start a QB received in a Watson trade

3 = Start a QB drafted with a pick acquired in Watson trade

If I traded Watson, received no QB back in the deal, and say I had pick 8 and wasn't sold on any QB left on the board, go to option 4

4 = Start McCarron in a tank season. Trade back from 8 to gain more draft assets to combine with assets in Watson trade. Tank out the season and have the top pick in 2022 to pick Rattler, Howell, or Shough instead of settling at 8 this year.

Their option right now is trade Watson (and then find a replacement in the Draft / through the trade), or call Watson's bluff and be forced to start McCarron.

I think the real shocker here is that AJ McCarron is still on an NFL roster.

Personally, looking at Miami, I feel that pick 3 is worth (2) 1st as that is what it would take to move to 3 for a QB. If Miami trades pick 3, then I think they only include one more 1st. If they kept 3 and traded 18 instead, then I think they need to add that 3rd first rounder and a 2nd rounder.

With Miami and the Jets being in the same division it could actually help us.

At some point if it’s clear to either team that the other is going to get Watson, they may be willing to help facilitate a 3 way trade where we end up with Watson.

Jets and Dolphins already have Josh Allen in their division. Eventually you have to think BB will turn NE back around. The last thing the Jets or Dolphins need is for the other to have Watson.

The Dolphins apparently have interest in Aaron Jones. Maybe CMC will be someone they’re interested in. The Jets lack talent across the board. I really think the Jets are better off using the number 2 pick to acquire more assets.

I sure hope so, but hope is all I've got because I can't point to any solid supporting evidence.

Good for you brother.  I've lost all hope at this point.  But as the old say goes, the sun doesn't shine on the same dogs ass everyday.

I think that is supposed to mean something positive so take it for what it's worth.

Watson has to look at the chances that he and he alone will finally make the Jets or the Dolphins never again the QB purgatory they've both been.

How many of their QBs been to the Superbowl in the last 20yrs?

Panthers have two.

Jake Delhomme, Cameron Newton

Texans have 6 division titles in previous 10-seasons -- Panthers have 3.

Texans have 7 winning records in last 10-seasons -- Panthers have 3.

Panthers have 7 losing records in last 10-seasons -- Texans have 3.

Texans made 6-playoff appearances in last 10-seasons -- Panthers with 4 including one where they fluked in with a losing record.

FYI.

And zero Super Bowl appearances.

That fluke 7-8-1 season had Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, and Drew Brees in that division, plus we actually won our playoff game and was competitive in the divisional round.

We also have two Super Bowl appearances , Houston has ZERO, nobody cares about playoff appearances.

I would not trade our two Super Bowl appearances so we can have some of Houston's mediocrity this past decade before Deshaun.

That's probably an appropriate image to use for this post.

“Now, the big noise I have heard over the past 24 hours comes from the Carolina Panthers. I spoke with someone last night, and we spoke about Deshaun Watson. This is a person in the know, and they told me that the Panthers will do anything they can to acquire Watson, and they will pay any price to acquire Deshaun Watson.”

    • What is your personal grade of this draft?
    • No disrespect intended, but you act as if we are supposed to value your opinion when it is all emotion and no fact.  The roster (I assume you mean offense) is "still trash" because someone who just signed up for the Huddle has declared it to be so?   Buhahaha.  ha.  Let me show you how FACTS work, and why emotional, unsupported opinions don't carry much weight: TE: Upgraded through the draft.  Sanders is a weapon that should improve the passing game and give Bryce an outlet he did not have last year. RB:  We just drafted the best RB in college football, one who can protect the passer, run the ball, and catch the ball like nobody else on the roster.  His knee will be cleared July 1.  OL: We just signed two of the best guards in football.  that is what Payton did to protect Brees.  Ekwonu has the skill and talent, he was simply missing technique.  We got him a better OL coach.  Center?  Bozeman was ineffective last year.  Corbett is an established veteran OLman.  It seems we are much better up front. WR:  We added a guy who gets open and has averaged about 900 yards per game as a #2 in Pittsburgh with an inferior QB there.  Thielen was a 1000 yard WR last season.  We have not had a #2 like XL, with his YAC capabilities and ability to catch contested passes.  In other words, the X is much better; the Z will be replaced with a stud WR, and the veteran slot will probably not be the #1 WR in 2024--he should be the #2 or even #3 most effective WR.  The 2023 Z WR, who had 418 yards and was showing signs of improving, will not be a starter in 2024.   As much as the OL has improved, we improved the weapons.  QB:  All of these additions increase levels of protection for the QB that he did not have last year and they give him more powerful weapons that he did not have last year.  Young will not be a rookie getting hammered trying to throw to people who are not separating.  This should make him improved.  How much? remains to be seen. Now keep in mind that we did this by not reworking contracts and kicking the can down the road.  We did not have a first rounder in the draft.  We added a second rounder to next year's draft.  We also addressed needs on defense as well, adding established DL, OLBs, ILBs, and DBs.  We get 2 first round pick starters who were injured most of the season back on that defense.  Yes, we lost Burns, Luvu, and a few others, but while being good players, they were either asking for too much money or they were not great fits for the system.  So the D should be better as well. That is not trash.
