The family wants him to face the strongest possible charges, and who can blame them?

The DA is waiting on the tox results, then he will (I am sure) be charged.  The DA made some comments that were somewhat ill-advised about this being a "likely" DUI (ill-advised because that can in some jurisdictions be seen as tainting the jury pool).

The civil suit will undoubtedly be significant.  I hope he has some really big insurance policies.

This is sad.

He should come forward on his own and offer a settlement.

As far as jail time, not sure that is going to help. With most people with issues like this, it takes more than jail time for them to hit their rock bottom.

If he has a criminal attorney that attorney would not let him offer anything.  Not to mention this little girl is facing tens of millions of dollars in medical costs over her lifetime, I highly doubt he has the assets to make her that kind of offer.

If the family has an attorney representing them my bet is they try to sue KC and force them to settle it out of court.  They have several theories they could file under.  The only way to sue KC though is to keep Reid as a defendant for now.

Then why does Biden want to make it so gun manufacturers can be sued when one of their products are misused? I'm not saying you're wrong, but alcohol kills and ruins WAY more lives than guns and you'll never hear for a call to ban all alcohol.

Back to the topic at hand. I think we can all agree this dude needs to be in jail for a long time.

I’m not going to get into what Biden or any politician does. I don’t tend to think the same way they do. But fact of the matter is you can’t ban something simply for the fact that a portion of the population abuses it.

Are we going to ban cars because some people are reckless behind the wheel? Why not ban the internet because some folks use it for child pornography? Ban fast food because it’s bad for you and some people overeat? See my point?

I do love the over-glorification, though. Read the article.

Starting with the thread title-

"Child injured by Britt Reid has permanent brain injuries"

"Family says girl injured in Britt Reid crash has permanent brain injuries"

"Tom Porto, the attorney speaking on behalf of 5-year-old Ariel Young’s family,-'She likely has permanent brain damage' "

Which is it?

Can't sue KC.

I know a guy who was hit by lightning and and was touch-and-go to survive for for a week and was in a coma...when he came out of it the doctors (not the lawyer) told his parents he would have permanent brain damage --- he recovered 100% and has lived a very productive life in the 30 years since.

The brain has an amazing ability to recover and adapt...

...for the sake of this young lady let's hope the medical opinion being rendered by this lawyer proves to be incorrect.

Bars can be sued for giving the person alcohol so it's the same thing. Right or wrong it's basically the same thing. Actually in SC all restaurant who serve have to carry 2 million in insurance for that exact reason because even if you serve 1 drink to a person and they harm someone it's your fault.

    • I think the qualification has changed over time though. A deep ball play used to take 4 to 6 seconds for the receiver to get to that spot on the field. Now a receiver can be there in 2.5. That's less time than most QBs have to set and throw. In my mind a deep route takes time to develop. A crossing route and a deep route can't take the same amount of time at full speed. You can have 4 deep balls on the same drive,  almost 5 if you do 5 20 yard throws goal line to goal line. That doesn't even make sense when you say it out loud.
    • The sad part is it looks manicured enough that he's aware it's running away from him.  Also, I just wanted to give you some fun loving grief on King Haynes today having a chance to throw a game winning TD, and was wildly errant, and ultimately picked off to end the game.  So happy I won't have to hear anything else about The Golden Calf of Bristol lite ever again watching college football.
    • I just think Panthers believe in Bryce far more than the fans do and he is most likely going to be the QB at least the next two seasons. the real shot of us moving from Bryce is not getting an extension, till then they are going to give him every chance to succeed and I just want to win.
