Yep, Belichick is looking at guys who will likely be available at #15.

We should also look at Belichick's QB drafting history. It isn't exactly all roses.

Brady is like the exception in everyway. I could see Jones on this list like an inverted Brady.

In his defense he's never drafted a QB in the 1st round, but honestly Belichick's draft record isn't a particularly good one.

And honestly, as of right now, the "was it Belichick or was it Brady?" question is leaning really hard toward Brady.

Fun BB fact.  In 20 years, there are only 2 exceptions where he didn't draft defense or a lineman in the first round.  Maroney and Harry.  BB probably drafts a hog molly lol.

I agree with all of that.

Belichick's draft history isn't all Belichick. In the early years, it was as much Scott Pioli as Bill.

I mean I am interested.   I doubt BB is trade in to the top 10 interested for Mac Jones.

I mean there was a reason Tom Brady was a 6th rounder.    There were reasons BB passed on him 5 rounds in a row too.  Brady is a unicorn.   People always defy the odds.  But the odds are the odds for a reason.

If not him then someone else will take him. Jones is a legit NFL quarterback candidate and in our system would be very good. He dismantled the Buckeyes and it wasn't as close as the score made it appear. Jones was great that game and his talent around him wasn't that much better than what Fields had. The hunt for the next Mahomes has really skewed QB evaluations.

Its been proven time and time again the job of both GM and Head Coach is just too much for any individual over the long run.

I think Matt Rhule has figured that out too.

If you read what college coach Matt Rhule said he'd want as an NFL coach and compare it to the statements he's made since actually getting the job, it definitely seems he's learned just how difficult the job really is.

    • not sure if any of this is news, but a good summary of our situation heading into training camp.  It's sure gonna be good getting Derrick back. After missing virtually all of the 2024 season, Panthers defensive tackle Derrick Brown is aiming for a full return to the field during training camp later this summer, per Joseph Person of The Athletic. Brown tore his meniscus in Week 1 and underwent season-ending surgery that has kept him limited through spring practices, though he did participate in “walk-throughs and light side work” during mandatory minicamp, according to Person. Brown originally stated a desire to be ready for the 2025 regular season, but his timeline appears to have moved up. Brown’s injury was particularly disappointing after a career-best 2023 season. He led all defensive linemen with 103 total tackles and was named to his first Pro Bowl, earning him a four-year, $96MM extension from the Panthers in April 2024. While he has never been a prolific pass rusher, Brown’s size and power has consistently commanded double-teams and created opportunities for his teammates. His impact was evident last season, as Carolina’s run defense ranked dead-last in his absence. The Panthers spent significant resources this offseason on defensive line depth, which should allow them to manage Brown’s usage more carefully coming off a major injury. He played a whopping 940 defensive snaps in 2023 (89% of the team’s total) and was on the field for almost every play before his injury last year. With new teammates Tershawn Wharton, Bobby Brown III, and Cam Jackson ready to share the load, Derrick Brown can take a lower snap share to stay fresh and healthy for the entire season. Here are a few updates on other Panthers returning from injuries:     https://www.profootballrumors.com/2025/06/panthers-injury-updates-brown-tremble-barno-wallace
    • Yeah it's kind of like they don't want him on the team anymore for some reason
