Not sure how it has anything to do with Burns

we could fit them all on the field. it's possible. but Reddick is taking a 1 year deal to prove that last year wasn't a one off in order to secure that big contract. he's only 26. if he is productive, we might be the team that ponies up.

good players are never redundant, but when you see an edge added to a group that already has a TON of talent at that position, it's eyebrow raising. you can find field enough for all of these guys, but it wouldn't make us very balanced,. texans are rumored to want defense and people were saying perhaps chinn or burns in that deal with 3 first round picks gets it done. the team really likes haynes and miller.

heading into the offseason, I wanted this guy but didn't think we could afford him.  And here he is.

Best news of the month so far.

He is a pretty small pass rush specialist that was a one year wonder. I think that his open market value was likely about what we got him for or a little less.

Given that Reddick will be used as a stand up edge rusher it is worth mentioning that this MIGHT be a heads up over Burns inclusion in any Houston trade

Let's see...

Houston signs a QB...

Carolina signs an edge player when they already have Burns and YGM. Sure seems like the puzzle pieces are coming together. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Watson trade go down with Burns included in the trade.

Moving from Burns and Chinn in our front seven to Reddick, Haynes and Miller would probably result in the worst front seven in franchise history. That is a disturbing thought.

Was scared we would sign Reddick to a long contract/big contract based on his production in his contract year.  But this? Essentially another prove it deal where he either proves it and stays, signs elsewhere for big money and nets us a comp pick, or sucks and is gone after a year?

Perfect

Maybe not, but are we going to a 34 defense?  Reddick and Perryman both seem to signal a chance. Short cut, Kerr cut, no replacements.

Roy in the middle, YGM and Brown at DE's

Perryman and Thompson in the middle. Reddick and Burns on the edges.

Chinn to safety.

All our pure DTs are NTs--yes, it seems we are

Pat Kirwan raved about this signing on Sirius XM radio today

The Cardinals did not want to lose him---Rhule and Snow must have played a big role.  The D just got scary today.  About that CB---

This may move Chinn back to S more.

Fox just adds to this

Fox is a 275 lb 3/4 DE, based on his size--It will be interesting to see what they do with him.  This is like Christmas.  The Draft--what we have left of it if we sign DW, just got offensive.

    • To me, this seems like they feel they aren't going to be competitive. I can't help but go back to Bryce. Good guy, but he doesn't inspire people to give it their all. He isn't a "leader" that people look to. There is no Smith, Delhomme, Kuechly, Cam, etc. coming in that door.  It has to be Bryce, but biologically speaking, how often is the shortest man in the room going to command the kind of respect that will drive people? It just isn't. That isn't how we are wired. That isn't how any living animal on Earth today is wired.  I just follow the science guys.
    • Vick's issue with Reid was that he couldn't take a hit, and he wouldn't go down. Otherwise he was pretty good much of the time.  Mahomes has a system that works. Mahomes doesn't become Mahomes elsewhere because not everyone can extract 125% of the ability of a specific player like Reid can. Kevin O'Connell is beginning to look like he has that ability as well but I'll need to see how he does with his Redshirt Freshman.  I also wonder how much of their playoff issue last year was related to the offense as a whole and not just Darnold. Fans don't really dive into the "why" things happen, they just see the what and complain about it.
