Gross-Matos is undersized to play 3-4 5 tech.

That's the problem with our stupid roster. Burns is too small for 4-3 5 tech and Matos is too small for 3-4

Why the hell can't we have 2 6'6 285lb 5s that can run 4.6?

Fng Washington has them.

Why would you even imagine Burns as a 5 tech? He was a rush 3-4 LB his rookie season.

Because when he was drafted we had a base 4-3.

He never played 7 technique at FSU.

He has had to play 4-3 5 technique for the Panthers because we didn't have the roster.

Unless Roy Brown and  YGM can be

Fox Williams and Kragen we don't have a chance in the 3-4.

I personally prefer the 4-3 with a  couple of Peppers, Mario Williams, Myles Garretts at the 5 tech.

Burns is only a two year veteran the Panthers leaked the switch to a 3-4 prior to him being drafted, He played at 235 pounds at FSU we drafted him to play rush LB primarily.

I agree with you about not having the personal to run a full time 3-4 in 2021, it's more about being able to diversity the scheme.

Defenses are so fluid these days and we're only in our base package 15-20% of the time.  The 3-5 and nickle packages are the ones to familiarize yourself with lineup wise.

I'm glad someone said it.  Its funny watching people debate a defensive formation we are going to be in so little.

I have sssoooooo many questions about the defensive. I do know this nearly all defenses rush 4 and drop 7, its the main goal for everyone. Snow knows this too well. If 4 is beating the 5 OLmen or giving them constant confusion, its much harder to pass the ball cause help is needed.

What is Browns role for the D- NT? Rush end? 3-tech? etc. He seems like a mystery and you just spent the 7th overall pick on the guy(and hed played great for 20 year old rookie).....Id hate to see him as a base NT for that type of investment.

Reddick, I learned recently he was a safety in HS. Watched his 2020 highlights, I came away unimpressed. Nearly all his sacks were due to TEs, RBs, backup OT, and one giant game. Even had a coverage sacks where the QB about ran into him. He loves the edge and loves attacking. He looks small for that role, but he does put out effort. Just feels like hes a perfect college player and his size was fine there......and a issue for the NFL.

Where is Chinns home or base at? Seem they want to save him form LB and run him at Safety/joker role

Snows 3-3-5 works in college due to CB playing man-to-man, thats nearly impossible in the pros. Man cover CB are soooo rare, well good ones are. So whats the plan here?

Whos the backup to perryman, cause hes always hurt. Is Carter still pissed at RHule?

Can we please get some snaps for my man Sam Franklin?

Beat writers need to ask some questions about the system and strategy, not that I want the league to know this, just to clear up some of the fog. I got about 100 more, draft will answer some.

Fox is listed as a LB on the panthers web-site....dont know what that means but it maybe a hint.

I imagine it's a mistake, he doesn't play like a linebacker and looks like a guy whose heavier than the billed 275....  This isn't 1996 3-4 OLBs are 240-250 pound guys not 275-290 even Peppers dropped into the low 250s to play LB.

I mean except for Eric Washington he dropped 9 and had the two worst passe rushers go after Rodgers on 3rd and 2 a few years back.

One would think hes the Efe replacement, but as my long ass post states, I got no clear picture for the defensive. I doubt hes going to be dropping to cover RB/TE/WRs, but again no clue on the plan. Eric was the classic example of getting promoted til you fail. Hes still one of the better DL coaches, just was not prepared to take on NFC south offensives. Brees, slant boy, Evans, Goodwin, Kamara, Jones,Ryan will eat you alive and they did. So sad seeing Rivera fail being a defensive specialist. He waited for Washington to drown, then tired to save him. Once he took over the play calling, very minor improvement. Team quit playing for Ron/Washington/panthers.

Efe lined up at DE/DT on around 90% of his snaps I would expect that to be Foxes role as well, I tried to watch as much of him as possible and he really doesn't strike me as a guy you want lining up as an off the ball LB... heck Efe wasn't despite being a freak athlete because he didn't play football until he was 23....

As for Washington he was a fantastic DL coach, but an absolutely horrible play caller especially situationaly....Even with the wtf third "surprise" onside kick of the game and repeatedly forgetting the clock doesn't stop under 2 minutes, it's fresh air... enduring 18 years of JF RR mule football still hurts.
