Can you not draft the rookies in late April and sign them after June 1?  I really do not know.

Yes you can.  Or later if you want, as long as you get them signed before camp starts.

Looks like Miller and Melvin are the main signings not included yet, so that may be another $4-5m or so. Add in $13m for the draft picks/in-season moves and that leaves around $8m of space.

But it wouldn't be hard to clear up another $20m or so in space for next year. Trading Teddy alone is $13m more of space and getting extensions for Moton and maybe Robby would knock a few million off each of those 2021 cap hits.

I don't know why everyone thinks our draft picks will cost so much against the cap?  This is the offseason, only the top 51 players count against the cap.  So if you add 1 player that counts against the cap, you take the lowest guy that counts off the cap.  Rookies will probably count about 5 million against the cap, total.  Hell, rounds 5-7 won't count at all because they will not be as high as the lowest guy on the cap currently.

    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
    • Moved to Tuesday, not Wednes because of scheduling with Flyers game or something in Philly. But I don't feel good about the Heat.  It has been a great season regardless.  Team just been playing so hard to move up since a bad start and just picked a bad time to get gassed.  It's like almost everyone is shooting cold at the same time even wide open shots.   Maybe atmosphere and playoffs kick off a spark.  I'd rather be in a series than a one and done though. The team has a good foundation to build on regardless of what happens.
