But still how far will that get you with Sam Darnold? Ask the Rams

Probably far.  He actually very hard working, smart and can throw the ball well.  Jets were a bad team.  Tom Brady would look like poo on that team.

Young is a good example. It's not promising that we have to go back 35 years for a comp. That's the type of long shot we're taking though.

I wasn't trying to be snarky, but he literally popped into my head when you asked for a comp.  You know what did it?  I thought of QBs on sh!tty teams when I was growing up and the Bucs were the laughing stock of the League and I went "Oh, Steve Young!"

Anybody still thinking QB at 8 btw...why? How?

We trade a 2nd+ for Darnold and pick up his 5th year option on what is clearly a reclamation project.  So...you draft his obvious replacement now to kill his confidence and make him an expensive backup next year?  The commitment to Darnold, no matter how "small" compared to other QB deals/trades, took away ANY chance we take a QB in the 1st this year.

Nah, I didn't take it as snarky.

Those 4000 yard years were years 3-4 for Tannehill. How can we compare that when Darnold hasn’t even played year 4? What about Tannehill having less than 3000 and less than 2000 in years 5 and 6 in Miami? You are moving the goal posts a bit here. All I said was that in years 1-2 the two were very similar and in year 3, Darnold had worse talent at every spot so while he sucked, he had no chance.

Go look at years 1 and 2 and tell me that they don’t look very similar. Go look at their year 3 offensive casts and tell me Tannehill didn’t have way better weapons.

Also, Gase wasn’t Tannehill’s coach until 2016 through 2018 when Tannehill was 28 to 30 and Tannehill had less yards per games during those 3 years than Darnold did in years 1 and 2.

I’m willing to give Darnold the benefit of the doubt in year 3, because his offensive weapons were trash.

Interestingly I'd happily take Herndon and Berrios on this team, but I appreciate that they're not high level starters.

Sam will have to learn to take care of the ball.  He had turnover problems back to college.  However, the Jets were atrocious on offense.  OL terrible, weapons really pedestrian and the coaching was just bad.  He played from behind like all the time.

Give me a comp for a guy who has looked a bad through three years as Darnold who ended up working out. I'm not saying it's never happened, but I sure can't think of one off the top of my head.

Steve Young.

How? If QB #3 or #4 falls to #8.  Why?  It's a cheaper version of what we gave Teddy and with one less year.  Also Grier & Walker are clipboard holders/only break in case of and emergency types of backups.

This is the NFL, stiff competition is needed at ALL positions unless they are top 3 in their respective position in the League.  So no, Tom Brady, Aaron Rogers and Patrick Mahommes don't need competition, but Sam Darold does.

Just fuging LOL if Lance or Fields falls at 8 and they don't pick them. Only way that would be acceptable is if they get a HAUL for that pick

I'm mentally preparing myself for Fields to be there, one of the OTs to be there...and we take a CB.

It's happening and I'm going to have to blackout after.
