Verge's 2021 Mock Draft

I wouldn't overlook Arthur Smith's interest in Pitts.  ATL is the wildcard.

TOTALLY agree DET is the likely trade down team and CIN goes Chase.

For Miami, with Pitts gone, I see them targeting Waddle.  They need a playmaker to pair with Tua and see what he's got.  Their trade back up was to ensure a top-3 playmaker.

Even with my counter points, we are still looking at Sewell, Slater, all CBs, Smith WR, and maybe the last remaining R1 QB.

Sewell could very well happen for us.

Just a question for clarity.....why is Micah Parsons, who is the most talented defensive player in the draft not in the 1st round at all?

My guy has told me that Parsons is off their board entirely. Other teams have issues with him as well. Just takes one team though. I don't actually foresee him falling out of the first round.

our Gross Matos was part of one of those red flags with him.

A random thought but I wouldn't be opposed to targeting Eichenburg in a trade-up if Fields falls to us.  Then trade down in the 3rd to gain lost picks.  Between Mayfield, Eichenburg, Cosmi, and Radunz, there is some really promising OT talent with our second pick.

3. San Francisco 49ers
Mac Jones, QB, ALA
Nat's notes:  I have been saying this since they traded up, Mac is the guy. Internet scouts (including me) severely underrate the level at which he played QB this year. The more tape you watch on him the more it makes sense. Mac Jones is the #3 QB on multiple boards, including ours.

I've been beating this drum for a while now, but yeah, Jones is the third best QB in this draft and a guy I thought we'd try hard for. Darnold makes this tougher, but if Jones should happen to get past San Fran and falls, I still think we pick him up.

If not, Sewell/Slater is definitely the long term best move.

Or we could just, you know, take the best tackle on the board when we have the chance.

    • Even all the rookie QB's who haven't played a single snap ranked above him? I really hope Bryce is using all this as motivation in some capacity. Because if this doesn't motivate him I don't know what will.
    • Of course. That’s what I said. Bad goalie play and the style of defense. Florida played amazing.  Rods decision to stick with a struggling Freddie cost us. Plus, Florida may be more talented than us and they play a very heavy game. Something we don’t do well minus Svech.  Glad the rangers lost.
    • You should because before the preseason fiasco and the start of the season fiasco, all the reports, including Frank’s responses, were that Fitterer and Reich were in lock step. Remember the press conference where Fitterer talked about both he and Frank saying who they wanted before and after the draft process and that they both picked Young and it was glorious? People got hung up on Tepper saying the point guard analogy in April when Brown was interviewed by a Panthers reporter describing how a QB needs to be a point guard in huge detail. That was in February. I think Tepper was just parroting Brown to make himself look like he knew what he was doing. Mrs. Tepper hugging Bryce always overshadowed CJ saying how he called her Mama Tepp. We fuged up as a team, probably more so because Fitterer always said he had Young as his #1 the year before, probably because we looked at all the QBs that year as well. Reich’s love for CJ started when he got on the hot seats for frankly doing a horrific job. He's been in the league a long time and has a lot of media friends and that was a face saving CYA which we know well with many years of Hurney. Still amazing to think how much better the team was under Rhule/Hurney before Fitterer got any control when Rhule was on the hot seat.
