what high draft pick doesnt have this kind of pressure?

Ummm hmm idk last pick at 8 for us worked out really really well. Almost broke all-time records within his first season. If these are the expectations you have for our CB more power to you.

tbh it probably doesn’t matter who we pick until brady fugs off and rides into the sunset with his 20 rings or gets theismanned

and then it might matter that we picked the safe corner back that could develop into a shutdown guy instead of the QBs that were left that have a lot of question marks and might be holding a clipboard in three years

if Fields becomes a star then Fitterer and rhule are gone

cant say I’d be willing to risk my nfl career on whatever angle they just talked themselves into

What happens with Fields is irrelevant.

What happens with the Panthers will determine whether Rhule and Fitterer are 'gone'.

If the Panthers have another losing season then it will weigh heavily on the current staff.

I think what he meant is that as long as the Panthers are successful then it doesn't matter what Fields does. But if Darnold continues to be a bum and we continue to flail while Fields and/or Jones ends up being successful in Chicago and/or NE leading them to deep playoff runs with elite QB play... oh wee mayne, is that ever gonna look bad.

Winning cures all, but it's an uphill battle for Sam Darnold, and thus the Panthers.

    • Panthers cannot afford to overlook the defense anymore in the draft. I wouldn't  invest a number number one pick on a QB again in this draft...always a roll of the dice. To many areas of dire need. Choose Dl, Edge or LB for our first round pick. Add another Oline player in the middle rounds. No more PROJECTS or INJURED players please. The QB situation is dicey. Will he ever emerge due to his limited physical abilities or not? They obviously need a plan B on the roster. I hate to say it, but maybe a veteran like Winston for Canales to work with would be an option short term. This season is going down the drain fast.
    • I did not watch the game just the breakdowns. I haven’t watched any defensive stuff of us.    Obviously did not know that. But no designated Hail Mary thrower, Bryce remains alone at the ‘top’.
    • If we were a top offense, I’d agree but we aren’t so our chance of getting 3 2 pointers is basically 0. There were two calls. Go for 2, which I understand but don’t agree based on our futility, and the actual play call, which was awful both times. Play action fake with a leak out and/or rollout to increase the number of opportunities like a QB run in or multiple targets. We, unfortunately, limited ourselves to one chance and after the first run was stuffed you’d think we wouldn’t do the same thing twice but we did and got the same result.
