Sounds familiar...I think I've seen this response somewhere.   😉

And you're correct.

Some would argue yet again his first 3 years in the NFL has already proven he's a bust... unless you stupid enough to act like those years didn't exist.

They did exist, but they're in the past.

What he does here, now, in our system isn't guaranteed to look like those years.

And like it or not, he's the guy now. The team didn't pick who you wanted, and all the pissing and moaning in the world won't change that.

You can either cheer for us to win with him or hope we lose just so you can say you were right. I suspect you'll choose option two, which is your right but makes you a sh-tty fan.

I could see where some draft analysis might indicate we should have gone for a LT rather than DB.  However, saying the Panthers should have selected another QB at 8 when the Panthers management just traded for one makes little sense.

Of course you could say Darnold will never be a starting caliber QB, but at this point, that's just like your opinion man.

Agree or disagree, Rhule believes Sam is just as good as Fields or Jones which is why they picked Horn. We will see if this was the right decision soon.

Exactly. Basically we picked a 1st round QB from 2018 and a 1st round corner in 2021. IF (*HUGE IF*) Darnold is as good as Fields, we got good value, adding two 1st round talents to the team for a 2021 1st and 2022 second.

I'm a bit skeptical and trying not to get my hopes up too high, but on one level I love that Rhule is betting big on himself and his staff to be able to coach up Sam and help him improve. It was a gutsy move.

Gonna be an interesting year!

I want my team to win it all, and I hope Sam proves me wrong by doing so. But I've been against Sam his whole career, I had him for his rookie year in a fantasy league. I hope PJ passes him on the depth chart. While I think about that, would PJ get the same support had Rhule decided not to trade for Sam, and stuck with PJ as the starter???

So when PJ is the starter bc Sam sucks, and we start winning again, only then will I take full credit for being right.

I believe you wrong to think Sam is a bust because of his environment, I believe he's a bust because Sam himself sucks.

So basically, you dislike Sam because of your stupid Fantasy League?    THAT is the source of your ire?

How immature.

With 3 NFL seasons under his belt, I am going to go out on a limb and say he will be BETTER than Fields.   😏

Just remember that Rookie QBs need a season or two to adjust to the SPEED of the NFL game.

Sam already knows how fast the game is.

Actually I lost the Super Bowl that year because he was my starting QB, had -4points, lost by 2 points, if I would’ve started anyone else even if they had 0 points I would’ve won,so yeah I’ve been burned once before for believing in him. That’s proof I did once believe he could be a decent QB. Ive been saying he’s a bust his whole career afterwards. Just because he’s a Panther I’m not going change my mind until he shows he’s not who I think he is...a bust.

and fantasy football makes you analytical when it comes to said players on your team, I’ve studied him since college and the same denominator is his poor decision making. You can lead a horse to the water, but you can’t make it drink=Rhule/Brady can coach Sam until he’s blue in the face but they can’t make him think...

    • He’s set financially for life barring complete fiscal lunacy. He has $12.3 million guaranteed. Think about that. Twelve million three hundred thousand dollars, he’ll be 28 years old when his contract is up and he’s completely forgotten about if he never plays another down in the NFL if he so chooses. Say after taxes he ‘only’ brings home $6M (fire your accountant territory) and parks $4M in a run of the mill mutual fund… good God… What I’m getting at, IF homie ain’t feeling the NFL, he has 12,300,000 reasons to take the fewest NFL edition ass kickings as possible while waiting out his very wealthy non-football future.  Obviously completely talking out of my a$$ with this… but if you hated contact, didn’t want to live with a completely wrecked body for the rest of your life and you know you’re set financially… what path would you take, assuming you’re cool with being a quitter (not calling him a quitter, I’m just playing out a scenario)? Why do so many first rounders bust? Where was he before his one year wonder if he was such a stud?  Everybody likes the dude on a personal level. How could you not? …. but I like seeing a winning product even more. He doesn’t play like his head is in the game. The Why is where the speculation lies and helps to clarify if his issues are ‘fixable’ or not.

    • Very likely that he needs another season or two to really find his groove.  It very well may not be here where he has his best season. He’s a physical standout, but he can’t seem to get his focus and mentality right. That non-catch where he didn’t get his second foot in bounds was a truly awful display of this. Every professional in this game makes that catch.  Last week, it was clear that he wasn’t playing in top gear.  Like so many young people these days, he wants success without working hard.  He wants maximum reward for minimum effort. He wants to rest on talent. But talent alone won’t cut it.  The foolishness of youth and inexperience.  He can have it all if he wants it.  Seems like he’s content to be a social media star and a forgettable football player.
