This isn’t really me crying about not liking what posters have to say, nor am I interested in ignoring what seems like half the board today.

This is more pointing out how ridiculous some of the overreactions are today whilst adding some legitimate insight into what I took away from the game. 
 

Judging by the positive reacts so far, I think I spoke for quite a few people on this sentiment. Thus I think this was a thread worth making.

They're lining him up at S this year so the LB corps has taken a huge step backwards. 

Just replied basically the same thing, I think Sean Chandler and Kenny Robinson looked pretty good at safety today so we'll definitely see Chinn on some LB snaps depending on the play calls. Chandler/Robinson/Burris/Franklin isn't mind blowing but should be able to hold their own if LB is a liability

I mean you have posters saying the season is doomed and posters saying we just had one of the best drafts ever (you seemed to miss pointing out this bunch)…after one preseason game. It works both ways. Both will be posting flaming knee jerk threads early in the season, win or lose.

Just the way it is. Reasonable fans will wait until mid season to form any kind of opinion.

The only fact at this point is Grier is trash.

Not sure what you expect from a franchise that has been largely stuck in a funk of perpetual losing for 25 years save for a few bright spot seasons here and there along the way. If the team starts winning again things will improve and if not the fanbase will just keep eating itself. I doubt it's much better on the Jets or Lions forums either.

I don’t doubt it’s the same other places, but is it really an excuse for lack of logic and reason?

Grier not trash, he just didn't have...hey someone help me out what's the excuses for Darnold coming out of NY...

Well, I did throw my question marks in the thread. That said, Chinn, YGM, Marshall, Tremble, Christensen, Brown, Smith etc were all picked after the first round and while it’s a small sample size, it’s clearly looking better than drafts we have had under DG or Hurney in the later rounds. 
 

Combine that with the fact I’m damn tired of the constant negativity and Tepper, Rhule, organization bashing on general that’s being going on for the last few years, I’m prone to pardon the sparse optimism even if exaggerated. 
 

But again, since you feel compelled to point out I’ve overlooked the overtly positive posters, tell me. Which had been more plentiful today? The doom and gloom or the sunshine crowd? We both know the answer. So yes, I was responding specifically to the negative Nancy types. 
 

We do agree on Grier. His time is almost up. And Slye may stick around another year but he has to be on a short leash as well.

Yeah it’s always been there, but this still feels a step beyond. YGM getting cut? I mean come on. And combine the overreactions with the deliberate trolls and I think it just has become much more tiresome and prevalent.

      As bad as AR has been, the Panthers would’ve been better off right now, if they had stayed at #9 in 2023 and picked him instead of doing what they did.  At least this way, they would’ve only wasted one draft pick vs what they gave up to pick BY. And they would have kept the #1 pick in the 2024 draft.

      I felt pretty good about us making progress this season, surprising some people, and getting some more wins than last season going into it.  Now, after preseason, my expectations are much, much lower. I was talking with my friend who is a Bears fan, and we were discussing their drubbing of the Bills and how people try to dismiss it as “preseason, so it doesn’t count.”  It absolutely counts.  Not the wins or losses.  No one really cares about that.  But what the Bears are doing shows that even in a vanilla, non-specific scheme, they are executing at an elite level and they are disciplined.  It shows they are well coached.  They see growth in their players.  Versus us - hard to tell what we’re looking at because everything is a fuging mess.  In games we’re still undisciplined, be it penalties or assignments.  We do NOT execute.  We got random coaches calling plays that won’t be calling plays during the season, we have our players getting into fights in the last padded practice of the preseason, then we have Bryce and Chuba trying to correct it while our coach sat off to the side laughing.  To be clear, I like Canales.  He seems like a good dude.  But, it feels like we have very little direction and discipline.  You’re allowing a team who has been historically bad the last almost decade, with a losing culture that mostly bereft of talent to self-police?  You’re allowing subordinates to work in pet projects at the expense of getting valuable reps and evaluation of players in during games?     My friend literally brought up last night that when Ben Johnson got there he essentially put DJ Moore in notice because it was starting to be perceived that he was displaying some diva-behavior.  That’s leadership.  And they’re reaping the benefits early and setting a tone.  My friend said there is an excitement and confidence in and around their team that’s he’s never felt his entire life.  And here we are, sounding and looking like The Bad News Bears in our final week of training camp and preseason.  I literally stopped watching after halftime last week.  I used to watch every play faithfully, even in 2001 and 2010.  It was fun.  This isn’t.  We are bad and our administration keeps making bad decisions to compound things.  Reading poo like this today is just fuging deflating.
