Defense falls on the fumble we win.

Don't get punt blocked we win.

Robbie doesn't drop winning catch we win

Brian Burns doesn't make a 6th grade defensive mistake we probably win.

Many variables led to the loss no doubt. But what stands out the most for a team such as ours who is desperate to be a contender and relevant again is Carolina opting to punt before the half on 4th and 2 and watching the Eagles go down the field and kick a fg. In our house. That was some sir purr poo let's just be honest.

Sam played the Eagles that has one of the worst defenses in the league (theyre #19 as of now because our offense sucked yesterday) Mahomes was doing that against one of the best defenses in the league that year in the most important game of players lives.

Are you trying to say Mahomes wouldn’t have beat the absolute poo out of this Eagles defense even with this line? Because that is laughable. Sam missed wide open players and was throwing interceptions right to defensive players. The excuses for Sam are ridiculous.

The Eagles were #14. They showed the graphic during the game. That’s not one of the worst. They were 31 against the run and like 9 against the pass or something like that.

That Eagles Defense still pressured the QB 47% of the snaps yesterday.  More that Mahomes in the Super Bowl.

so pretty comparative.  Take the teams names off and look at the stats and play.
Panthers QB was pressured Green team yesterday 47% of the time

cheifs QB pressured a lot but less by red team last Super Bowl

Pressures are subjective because they can be linked to qbs not processing quickly enough. Sam said so himself. He’s holding the ball too long. This isn’t absolving the oline. They are abysmal a lot. But yesterday was a combo of shitty line play, a qb holding the ball too long, missing wide open players, unable to connect on deep passes and a qb throwing picks in clean pockets right to defenders. I don’t get the look what Mahomes did in the Super Bowl analogy. Elite qbs win this game even with this line. We need to be looking at upgrading the line and qb this off-season.

You’re right. I looked at a site that ranked them #19 overall after 5 games and figured since we couldn’t do poo against them they were worse before this week. Anyway there still not a top tier defense overall. And are one of the most penalized defenses in the league.

Yes.
this is used a lot of their sitting in the pocket.

a lot of times this is from coverage sacks.  And holding onto it to long instead of running or throwing away.
when OL get beat repetitive off the snap.  Very little you can do.  Especially when coming up the middle.

there are a few incompletions over seen circulating where the DL’s arm is within a finger length of Sam’s arm.  So it was about a mili second from a strip sack…..which again people would freak on Sam.  Those throw he got the ball out and just misfired the WR resulting in an incomplete pass

Who gives a poo what defense rank is.

#5 defense vs #10 OL getting beat or #15 defense vs #31 ranked OL

defense rank numbers matter.

If that #5 defense pressured the QB 35% of the time while the #15 rank defense pressured 47%  are you still pointing out the defensive ranking.
mom looking at what’s going on the field not rankings from previous games.

Oh…. We’re comparing Sam to MVPs and Champions again.

Not compared the physical Ayer themselves.  Comparing the situations

situation A “elite generational QB can’t overcome terrible OL play giving up <47% pressure.  Fans drool over how their organization completely gutted and overhauled the OL

situation B Elite MVP QB couldn’t overcome OL play.  Fan base cries for years how this organization failed said player and he doesn’t have a ring because OL

player C has bad game.  Fans crucify him.  Claim that Elite QBs can overcome terrible OL play.

let’s throw the names out

I'm holding Sam to the incrediblely high standard the quarterback from last season was unfairly held to, especially on this board.

Even though he was completing over 70 percent of his passes and had the offense humming and efficient to the point that people were calling Joe Brady and offensive wizard lol.

He was crucified on these board even on completed passes, "look how the ball just floated in the air". Has one of the highest completion percentages "but yea, look at the touchdown/int ratio". After 5 games it was 5/3, current ratio 6/6.

Last season it was the defense that was the weak unit and needed to come up to speed, and it was the offense that was being lauded "Carolina rebuilding team but has a nice group of weapons". Now it's looks like we're back to the one man McCaffrey show to have any shot.

But apparently the coaching staff and front office agreed with the yahoos on here and shipped Bridgewater off and traded picks for Donald, so yea he better be the 2nd coming. What good was it to take two steps forward on defense this season, only just to take one step backward on offense.

Wth this defense and 2nd year in the offense TB would have this team 4-1 now instead of 3-2.

Last season Moore, Anderson, Samuel all had breakout seasons, I know it was Joe Brady lol. This season Robby Anderson and a talented rookie Terrace Marshall looking like Keary Colbert and Drew Carter to DJ Moore's, Steve Smith.

So yea Donald needs to produce, we have a defense ready to compete this season and a superstar running back in his prime when McCaffrey comes back. If Donald isn't it, what a complete bungle by the front office.

Yea, not a top tier defense by any stretch, they’re middle of the road literally. But our line is putrid. We’ll make any defense pass the eye test as long as our interior three are starting.
