Mac Jones is looking like the best rookie QB right now

Goes to show you never can tell. I wasn't sold on Mac either but said I wouldn't be shocked if he made fools out of some ppl though. My fear is the Panthers looking at the qb class of 2021 and saying no thanks we'll go with Sam Darnold could be a bad dream that lasts for quite awhile. These are decisions that have ramifications for more than just one or two seasons.

Mac Jones would be terrible on this team. He’s on a well coached team with a decent offensive line. The Panthers have none of the things a young QB needs to succeed.

If we had drafted a qb things would look probably very different ideally you would sit him while we build the oline and bring in someone better than PJ Walker and Will Grier to hold it down until he's ready. But no matter which way you want to go down the rabbit hole of what if scenarios the plan of going all in on Sam Darnold was fugged from the beginning we should all be able to agree on that.

Sad thing is they could have done both even with Darnold on the roster. Start Darnold until he sucks, then play the rookie. Next week would be the time to roll out a 1st round rookie after prepping him all off-season. But here we are with NO OTHER OPTIONS. How STUPID do they have to be to think that rolling with a Jets reject QB as your only option was a recipe for success?

This is me eating my crow. You were right on Darnold. I was wrong.

Regardless of that, the front office has to a.) Give up whatever it takes to get a top QB in the draft this year. And B) put every single dollar of capspace into an OL that can protect said drafted QB.

That is all, let me have it.

I’m with you Jaxel.  Espe after the first couple games. I was like “ see he just needed new team and coaching.

Man was I wrong. The issue is not only do we need a QB but also need an OL.

I said it 2 years ago when ther was the dearest OL class in years. And we ended up drafting 7 defensive players.  Now we are paying for it.

Hurney was ready to go up a spot or two for Justin Herbert.

He was told, nah we good. Rhule took responsibility for that.

Justin Fields was passed over. Rhule said nah, we good.

We ain't good. We're horrible.

Marty was good at one thing. Knowing what to do in the first round.   That’s basically the only thing he should of ever been tasked with.

He also wanted us to draft Justin Fields who looks awful, so we’ll call it a wash.

Give the rookie some time. Regardless, he is a rookie while we have a vet who is making bad decisions and having mechanics issues in his forth year.

I'd still take Fields over a lackluster veteran. At least there's an upside.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
