We would be 6-2 with a very average yet efficient QB.   Sam isn’t being asked to be Brees.  Sam can’t do basics which ends up putting more and more stress on the O.

We would be 6-2 with freaking Teddy.

I don't know that I agree we'd be 6-2 with Teddy, but I do agree we'd be 6-2 with average but efficient. I think Teddy has pretty much been exposed at this point as pretty limited, and I say that as someone who going into last year was willing to give him every chance. Overall we've had a fairly easy schedule with just a pair of teams an avg QB would struggle to best with this D. 6-2 sounds about right. I don't think we'd go very far in the playoffs, but we'd at least make them, and get playoff exposure for our young cornerstones.

Now?

Seems like a pipe dream.

No way. Hell, that Vikings game doesnt even get to OT with Teddy at QB.

Vikings and Cowboys would be the two losses.

6-2 with Teddy.  Teddy wins the the Philly and NY game.  That’s 6-2.  Philly game was the most gift wrapped game on a season to the QB.

you don’t think Teddy wins the Philly and NY game? Philly was handed to the QB on a silver platter.  That setup to be the easiest  W on the year.

Teddy wins all the games Sam did.  Plus the Philly and NY games.  Teddy losses Dallas and the Vikings games because those are the games Teddy can’t play in.

Nobody mentioning getting our Slot WR (Marshall) back.  That is important.  Remember, with Marshall, teams are less likely to sit on routes etc.  He is a legit player.

I also think CMC keeps people honest.  Just a theory.

It’s not a theory it’s common practice.

Sam/CMC/Robby/DJ/TM

is a much more difficult task to plan for than

PJ/Chuba/Robby/DJ/“x”

Everyone has an agenda….

Got me.  I want my professional sports team to be able to at least field the most basic bare bones level QB play…and we would have a winning record right now if we had.

instead we have the worst QB in the NFL and people still performing mental gymnastics that it isn’t that.

Hmmmm, cleared from concussion protocol, and a healed throwing arm are two different things.  He goes out there, gets injured worse, there goes any trade value you can get.  You could use every bit of value you can to do something about that horrid oline.

They aren't interested in trade value. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Home game with CMC back and against an old foe. If Sam can't put together a good game here I really don't want to hear any nonsense about being a future starter. It doesn't even matter about Belichick. This is an opposing qb many raked over the coals for weeks before the draft. There is no excuse to lose to that guy. Get it done or get out as far as I'm concerned.

    • Sounded like no on the podcast. Willis will be doing some stuff on WRAL.
    • I kinda want to use this as a barometer of how people feel about Bryce as well. But the main purpose of this thread is mainly for those who have either mixed feelings or feel negative about Bryce. What exactly would it take for you to believe he's the franchise qb for the next decade? Or maybe simplifying that question,  what kind of stats would he need in need to really earn a top 10 qb deal/market rate for a 2nd contract with the panthers? Maybe that's a broader question because they could hold on to him for 4 or 5 years.  Maybe the key factor here is I don't believe Canales is tied to Bryce at all emotionally.  I don't truly know how much weight he has in the room to be able to move on from Bryce if he sucks again I guess, but I don't see him just sitting on his hands if we go 2 to 4 wins again. I'll try my hand at it here. I'd say something like 25 TDs 15 INTs or less, 3000+ passing yards, around 65%+ completions.  Wins and losses not be as relevant of a stat prediction for Bryce alone, but I would assume if we're at least somewhat competitive for the division that helps his case a lot.  If we have a winning record or a playoff appearance (or both), either of those may be more than enough regardless of Bryces performance because of how long we've been in a playoffs/winning season drought.  Looking at the opposite end of the spectrum,  I doubt this happens with all the changes BUT. If Bryce turns in another year with a 1:1 TD:INT ratio again or a negative ratio that's gonna spell trouble. Even if he has God awful stats he'd definitely still be on the team year 3 contractually, but I'd say that Canales wouldn't be beholden to keep starting him unless there was a directive from teppper to do so.  People keep saying the 2025 draft is a dead zone for QBs but Quin Ewers, Carson Beck, and Shedur Sanders are all of age, and any of them or someone else could blow up by the end of the next college season.
    • Since you want to poo posts remotely critical of him months later why don't you return and own up to your thread?
