Still have a big game Sunday...what are the keys?

Alright the game this week is definitely overshadowed for us....I mean Cam is fugging back.  That said, it's a must win.  Prior to Cam coming back it felt like such a downward slide that no redirection was possible.  Even though we're only a game out of the wildcard we might as well have been mathematically eliminated.  There was no saving the season, but lo....there is hope.

So now the team must find a way to go get this dub to set the table for the unthinkable run we're destined for.  The stuff of dreams.

PJ Walker would show impressive professionalism to go out and deliver a solid performance for the team.  There isn't much pro tape on Walker and that gives us a small advantage.  Different cadence, different tendencies, and a little harder to game plan for specifics.  So here are the keys in my view.

1)  Adjusting our running game.  We have to use misdirection and read option.  If we can force the DE's to sit on the option it should open up some holes between the tackles and the guards.

2) Limiting turnovers.  This is an easy and lazy key to the game, but it's still important.  I think we need to see some safe throws from PJ.  If we're moving the ball and nothing is there....take the 3 points.

3) Keeping Murray contained.  I actually think we matchup well defensively with a team like the Cardinals.  We have depth at CB to match their receivers and we have speed on the ends.  The Cards are going to want to move Murray out of the pocket, so we're going to have to counter this with our speed on the edge.  The Burns injury hurts, but we're still a fast defense.

Ultimately would be an absolutely huge win that sets the stage for Cam's return.  I hope PJ comes out motivated and not deflated.  Even in the back up role he has a chance to be an important part of this team.

Keep Pounding!

Not turning the ball over.

Some average offense.

With the AZ injuries pending no surprises the D should be able to take it to that O.

If we can control PJ's aggressive throws.  I think we have a shot.  And I still think he should take some shots.  But where you greenlight that matters.

I think the key to opening up those throws are PJ using his legs.  If we can force a spy then some holes in the secondary should open up.

to my knowledge, Murray and Nuk have been out all week.  They both missed last week's game.  That's why we have a shot at the upset.

Murray practiced today. He is a game time decision. I expect him to sit.

Hopefully, would be perfect to get cam some pt with Kyle out

I'm so eager to see Cam play too, but I'm not sure if it would be wise.  I know Cam can pick things up quick.  I'm reminded of his rookie year when there was pretty much no offseason because of the CBA and how well he did.  I just think we'd be better served to ease him back into the physicality of the game.

    • Which would be 8-8-1. An improvement.
    • Not sure who you are talking to. Everybody maybe? Anyhow the family cat woke me up so….  Saturday, I will be in the playoff frame of mind for that game don’t worry about that. Will be living and dying on each play. Pretty sure everyone will be. That is still a few days away though.  Right now it is yes we made the playoffs. Backed into it with some convoluted 3 way tie breaking magic. It took a heroic finish - not by us, but by Atlanta. I don’t hardly know how to feel about it. I don’t feel like we won it. It is just sort of, well okay here we are, somehow. Our number came up. We were lucky. And that is what we were. Not good, lucky.  As far as here, this discussion, I think people rightly feel like, look at the offense. And it is kind of, what offense? They shut our run down and we become totally stagnant. Some people have faith that the QB can beat people with his arm but we aren’t doing it. We went into our bye off a big high. In or tied for, first place. We control our destiny. 4 games to do it. And we freaking finished 1-3. That control our destiny thing? We didn’t control poo when it comes down to it. Lost in the mix is basically a huge collapse. No one really called it out, it got lost in the excitement of the chase. But, 1-3 with the playoffs on the line - every week. Not inspiring. I mean, you don’t call that trending up, and if we hadn’t lucked into the tournament that would be our finish headed into the offseason. Not what you want. And if we don’t win Saturday? 1-4 to finish the year.  Limping out.  Okay that said I do hate going into playoffs on a winning streak because you are almost due to end the streak and that loss ends your season, so dropping One before the elimination games start is almost a comfort. But 1-3 with a 54 yard passing total in one of them? Followed by 14 points in a must win. Hmmm.   I am supposed to be optimistic? Sorry I don’t think I can be. I can hope, that’s different. It has just been a rough 8 years, and the excitement of having a winning record is in the rear view this week. About the only way we can have one is make the NFCCG I think.    Anyhow, on offense, where are the signs that we can beat people who stymie our run game? I suppose it could happen out of the blue but we haven’t really been able to pull that off.  Beating Tampa Bay was good. That was it though. Our other last little bit of glory is two plays on 4th down where they didn’t really pay attention in the back end, somehow, and we got two really nice results.  Not once, but twice back to back. Honestly it was so out of character it felt a little fluky.  And here we are, depending on that to happen Saturday. At least guess is what we are hoping for. Good luck to us.
    • Yeah that’s how I see the division currently and when I say repeatable I mean wins against teams like GB and the Rams, dominated performances like the first atl game  other playoffs teams we’ve faced we got blown out, team still doesn’t have an identity expect being inconsistent
