You have to balance that with the talent around him. One of the same issues Josh Allen had coming out iirc (beyond his accuracy of course)

Josh Allen is 6’6” 250 with a cannon. His problems could be overcome by size and not having to alter an offense to accommodate him.

Willis has thrown 12 picks this year

2:1 TD:INT ratio.

Corral’s TD: INT is 20:4 and has a huge arm.  I lien corral better

Day 2? You mean that day when we have no draft picks because of brilliant trades?

Exactly.

I'd love to hear whether or not scouts are finding the 2nd - 4th round prospects to be fairly close. I recall Fitterer saying that guys 26 - 100 (or 150?) were all round about the same impact-wise. If they had the foresight to ID a potentially weak 2nd & 3rd round, it makes the CJ Henderson trade even better (or the Sam Darnold trade even worse if it's a strong class).

Honestly, if Willis was playing in a P5 conference consistently facing good teams I think he'd be considered a late round flyer type of pick.

He had a hell of a year last year (yeah weak competition) and has some talent. Could be a boom or bust like Trey Lance (also looked bad against better competition), but without the size.

Yeah not huge on Willis. Corral, Pickett and Strong are my faves. Ridder and Howell not far behind. But Willis..I acknowledge the upside but his game v Corral was very underwhelming.. surrounding talent considered.

He has such a pretty and accurate deep ball though.  The downfield placement is hard to ignore IMO and that Nevada offense asks a lot of him.  More advanced than the typical college system.  Think he's hands down the best pure QB in the class.

That's all we need to hear to know that he's actually a top 5 prospect. 😛

Every year around this time everyone says "this QB class is bad and we don't have a guy I would take in the top 10" or some nonsense. This class is fine, not as good as last year, but it has three guys with first round grades for me. Pickett and Willis clearly at the top.

People love to talk about how there isn't any consensus 1st overall type of QB, guess what?  We don't ahve the overall 1st pick.

This is a bad year to have the 1st overall pick and need a QB.  Usually if you have the 1st overall pick you are hoping for a Luck or Manning type of prospect.  There isn't that in this class.

Last year if you were picking 12th you would have ended up with the 5th QB off of the board, this year year maybe the 2nd.  There is a very good chacne thye could have similar type of scouting grades.

Good point. You could potentially get your number 1 rated QB at pick 8. If there was Lawrence in this class, you would have no chance…

It would not surprise me at all if some teams, us included, have similar grades on the top 1-2 QBs this year that they did on QBs 4 and 5 last year.  That doesn't guarantee these guys will work out, but purely from an evaluation standpoint the situations are similar.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
