Pittsburgh and Washington both took QBs, maybe we could work a trade back with them

Maybe, but to be fair the quarterbacks these mocks have them taking are expected to fall to their spot anyway.

Probably only happens if they want someone they think will go higher or someone else takes a quarterback early and they panic.

Pickett is a 5th year player so he's very experienced.  Threw for 4300 yards and 42 TD this season.  Has resurrected the previously dormant Pitt program with his excellent play this year.   Pitt won the ACC title in 2021 with an 11-2 record.  He is universally well regarded in the media with ACC Player of the Year, Johnny Unitas award and is currently in the discussion for the Heisman trophy.

That's a pretty solid record.  Add to that his pro-ready size (6' 3", 220 lbs).

I could think of a lot worse QB prospects for Carolina.

Mark my words - if Carolina passes up on Sam Howell it will be a grave mistake and they will be haunted by it for years. Especially when the Falcons or Saints pick him and he lights up the Panthers twice a year and Pickett is out of the league in 2 years. Pickett fuging blows.

He’s going to the Steelers

I could get behind it.

I dont know that I like him more as a prospect than Justin Fields last year but I think I like him more or about the same as Mac Jones.

Biggest issue with these 5 year guys is that they may be as close to their ceiling as they're gonna get. Can you win with them? Absolutely. Is it always better to take the younger guy you can mold? Maybe not. You'd have to trust our evaluation and coaching staff. Not sure I'm fully confident in that aspect of our team as of right now.

Pretty wild Pickett and Mac are only a year younger than Darnold and Burrow

Pickett reminds me a lot of Daniel Jones.  Don't know if thats a good or bad thing, as Jones definitely has some talent and his situation might just suck in NY....BUT if I was running things I would go heavy O-Line in this draft, and try to get my QB next year when much better options are going to be available.

Also, on the O-Line front, at LT both Cam Robinson and Terron Armstead could both be available.  Either would be great to pair up with Moton.  Still need at least 1 G and probably a C too though.

And since we’re playing the AFC North and NFC West next year we’ll be in a better draft position to get that QB.

    • Was at the game and NYCFC honestly outplayed CLT the whole way.  Khalina and Zaha carried the team.  Zaha's wife on IG making it sound like he's gone come July. They're going to have to pay him or find a big time replacement because the team looks like pretty lost without him.
    • No one's saying LaMelo has no blame we're responding to you acting like he's the reason they lost. The scapegoating and blaming the teams woes on his personality is where it's like Cam Newton all over again. It was a failure on multiple fronts and primarily Lee's. Dude said ON AIR pregame that they had to protect the paint and if that was his gameplan going in he couldn't have botched it more. As the commentators said Ball's a rhythm guy and Orlando was preventing him for getting any kind of flow going. I'm a normie watching on TV and said they needed to bait them into fouling to combat that. They didn't even try until the 2nd half when it was too late. I think it's fair to expect the star to overcome whatever but LaMelo was not the problem in that game and he's not what is holding the team back. He's the only reason they're flirting with being a great team. I kinda put the center play on Lee too. Moose is great until he's up against a big who can body him. We've always known that and that's what Kalkbrenner is for. I don't know if it would have changed much but Kalkbrenner should have had more minutes than him.  And moving forward with the center position, I just think it's the time to trade Diabate while his stock's high and that's not an indictment of his game. He's like an evolved combination of Biyombo and PJ. He's a great rim protector and the strength issue is just what you're going to have to deal with if you want that. But Kalkbrenner is perfectly capable of protecting the rim and we gotta get away from the undersized centers or it'll always be a problem for us.
    • Honestly its why that Jalen Coker grab was a big deal.  I'd been warming up to the idea of a sadiq pick and was adamantly against a receiver...but this altered my train of thought.  I mean For instance, Cade Otton signed for 3 yr 30 mil contract...thats not dramatically different than the rookie payscale for #19 (4 year 20 mil with 5th year option), however you KNOW otton is decent...no clue if Sadiq will be anything.
