The injury wasn’t as serious as feared and will only take about four weeks to heal, but with three weeks remaining in the season, Gonzalez is done.

New arrival Lirim Hajrullahu will handle the kicking for the Panthers for the rest of the season

Quote

Lirim Hajrullahu (born April 24, 1990) is a Kosovo-born Canadian gridiron football placekicker for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He became a Grey Cup champion with the Toronto Argonauts after kicking the game-winning field goal in the 105th Grey Cup game (2017) and is a two-time Canadian Football League East Division All-Star (2016, 2019). Hajrullahu played college football at Western Ontario and attended Governor Simcoe Secondary School in St. Catharines, Ontario.

On April 13, 2020, Hajrullahu signed a contract with the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL).[38] It was exactly a day short of 21 years, when on April 14, 1999, Hajrullahu and his family were forced out of their village due to the Kosovo War.[39] Hajrullahu received interest from five teams at the NFL combine in March in Arizona, which he had been attending every year since his days playing for Winnipeg.[40] He was waived on September 4, 2020, after losing the kicker job to rookie Sam Sloman.[41] It was reported that Hajrullahu "was the victim of NFL politics", with Sloman sharing the same alma mater, Miami University, as Rams head coach Sean McVay, despite Hajrullahu having been the best statistical kicker during training camp.[42]

In November 2020, Hajrullahu signed with the Generals of The Spring League (TSL) and played in their inaugural fall season.[43][44]

Carolina Panthers
On December 9, 2020, Hajrullahu was signed to the Carolina Panthers' practice squad,[45] but was released six days later due to a work visa problem.[46][47] He signed a reserve/future contract with the Panthers on January 4, 2021.[48] He was waived on March 22.[49]

Hajrullahu returned to the Generals for The Spring League's 2021 season. On May 8, he went 5-for-5 in field goals in the first game, including the longest field goal of his career at 59 yards.[50] It was the TSL's television debut on Fox,[11] and Hajrullahu set a new league record for longest field goal, tied the single-game record for fields goals, and was named the South Division Player of the Week.[51]

Dallas Cowboys
On August 18, 2021, Hajrullahu signed with the Dallas Cowboys after the team released punter and emergency kicker Hunter Niswander, who had been filling in at placekicker for an injured Greg Zuerlein. He was released on August 24, 2021, and re-signed to the practice squad on September 14. He was released from the practice squad on September 21. He was re-signed on November 10,[52] but was released on November 23.

Washington Football Team
On December 11, 2021, Hajrullahu was signed to the Washington Football Team's practice squad.[53]

I'm just going to call him Ed.

Imagine the look on the person's face when they handed them his name and told them to stitch a name patch for his jersey.  I guarantee they said "you sure you spelled it right".

Agreed, but they'll just dig in harder. A gaggle of 14 year old mean girls has way more civility and common sense than the huddle as a whole.

I hope it is not the Huddle as a whole. But over the years the place has changed a lot and there are plenty of people to dumb it down.

    • I think he has closed the gap a little bit between him and a backup coming in and badly showing him up.  But not so much that someone could not come in and make the offense look like Andy did in Seattle week 3 2023. That poo was night and day to Bryce was putting out.  So, they are in a sense playing with fire by getting rid of Dalton and actually trying to bring in someone to push him.
    • Some people have been beaten down so long they have no standards. Can't be reasoned with.
    • Getting better, might be fairly charitable. We finished 1-3 with the pressure on. That is for sure not trending up.  I don’t see a clear run of performances that prove he has taken it to another level. Not yet.  I would say he played really well in the WC game. And folded on that last series where we still had a chance. I think he threw one good ball. That last series is the kind of thing a player is supposed to learn from and not repeat. We have to see him do it before we can credit him for doing it.    I would also say he has not done enough of playing at his ceiling and what we should expect as the game in game out norm is still not established.  We gonna get MNF in SF or we gonna get the WC game? Seattle or Atlanta yardage record?   Besides that he has three years of horrendous play to start the season hanging over him. Are we going to get that again or will he be over that? We can’t know that. Mind you, that isn‘t two of three it is three of three he has yet to play well to start the year as a pro. Ofer.    So, many questions remain.    As far as weapons and help… said it before. Fix the OL so we can protect him.  It is time for a 1.1 pick in his 4th season, third year in the same offense, to elevate the players we have given him. You can’t keep up the level of investment dedicated to propping him up, you have to prop up the defense too and get some balance.
