Sam Darnold can’t throw the ball past the line of scrimmage.

The problem with this is the oline statistically ranks as the worst in the league…in basically all measures. Dead last. An average game here or there out of 17 is not a consistent trend…the statistics tell you what the consistent trends are and it’s not pretty.

Moving out to all other seasons in the past 2 decades, again, the oline is in the bottom 10. That’s bottom 10 out of almost 650 olines for every team for 20 years. I mean 15 sacks, most under 2.5 seconds (average time to throw), often far less, in two games is really unheard of at this level.

That is just insane to think about.

Weak OL needs good coaching and playcalling.  We have a bad OL and bad coaching/play calling.  And bad QB play.

OL does suck.

But if it is all the OL and not coaching (lack thereof)…..why does the OL manage to allow somewhat respectable offense early and then get blown up after they get a chance to look at our whack game plans? Check the first quarter vs 3rd.  Same thing each week.

and why does the OL offense work every time Rhule debuts a new QB? And then once he keeps putting the same guy out there it turns to poo.

if it is all OL and not also coaching….you wouldn’t see the clear discrepancies

Only Discrepancies I see is (depending on the team) they take a half or more to figure out how our game plan works with this horrible Oline then just stop our run game and blitz the poo out of us..

The 1st 3 games we had a healthy CMC so the dinking and dunking was a effective offense... When you didn't have CMC you can blitz the poo out of us with no fear CMC breaking a short pass for 60 yards...

Now that you mentioned it and I looked it up most of the games you're talking about and we had a new starting QB.. Cmac was playing... So there is your answer..

The Oline is terrible unless CMAC is fully healthy.. No matter who the QB is team figured out they can blitz the poo out of us and best the Oline unless Cmac is playing..

Lol

Not a single blitz. Simple straight up four man rushes on every snap.

That's the story they didn't even try to blitz because they knew they weren't going to get there.. Teams know they are going to get a 2 free rushers so they come with the blitz every 3rd down no matter the down and distance..

I can agree but is it the chicken or the egg situation??

At this point.. If the Coach doesn't change and The QB'S aren't changing what can be changed in this situation?? The horrible Oline..

I mean, you basically acknowledge my point in your first paragraph.  A legit NFL staff is able to mitigate the impact of how bad the OL is throughout a game.    This staff hangs them out to try.

it’s been discussed early this season back when Joe Brady was fired that this staff isn’t able to scheme and gameplan at this level.  That shows as the season goes along and in each game.

Rhule and company are playing checkers and that gets a bad OL heavily exploited as a game goes along.

We should get rid of the chicken and the egg.  I still see no reason Matt Rhule should get a year 3.

How are you going to scheme not having more then .2 seconds to throw the ball?? Without a Cmac, Kamara, Terek Hill or any other dynamic weapon..

Let's also remember both WR have drop issues and RB aren't great with there hands either..

We should and will are 2 different things.

But it still doesn't change how bad this Oline is... And you for some strange reason actually can't see how bad they really are..

Offenses are often synergistic.... The reverse us happening for us. The whole is even worse than the sum of its shitty parts.

The problem with Sam is that he can't make good throws deep, and he generally screws up any difficult pass. So we face defenses that sit on shorter routes and they start getting pass defections. At that point we don't have an answer unless we can ram the run down their throat. Things are over as soon as we're down by too much and have to throw deeper passes, and then come the INTs from that useless dope Sam. He's been a loser his entire career, and now we owe him 18 million dollars.

The biggest problem is Tepper IMO

he hired the coach because the coach reminded Tepper of himself. A sloppy pot belly guy who has crumbs and mustard stains on his shirt.

this coach then thinks he’s good enough to fix Darnold.

Darnold has every physical tool needed to succeed. Big arm, can move, size etc. but the guy can’t process the game. He’s in fear mode as soon as the ball is snapped.

This franchise is being run into the ground

    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
    • Maybe faked was too strong of a word.  "Milked" may be the better way to call it.
