If we keep Rhule (it sounds like we will) I really hope he gets some qualified assistants and listens to them… Roster control needs to be out of his hands as well. I just don’t understand the 3rd year guarantee nonsense….

For me this would be the worst case scenario, with him being fired next Monday being the best case. If Rhule is retained it would be best for Tepper to jump in and hire some NFL experienced assistants. That way, when Rhule is fired mid-season, those qualified assistants can take over and not folks from Rhule's regime. Sounds right in my head but who knows.

Yeah that would be best case scenario if Rhule is around, but would he even want to return in that situation knowing the writing is on the wall? That scenario basically reduces him to an overweight cheerleader who doesn't know how to manage time outs, a far cry from the initial goal of him being some genius program builder who brought in his whole crew to turn another bad team around.

I get the sentiment but that is an awkward awkward situation for anyone to walk into.

I honestly can't recall an owner or a GM ever forcing assistants on a head coach. Even the ones that have insisted on changes have allowed the head coach to make those changes himself.

You're right I didn't articulate my thoughts accurately. But yes, what I meant was for Tepper to step in and "ask" Rhule to make new hires, meaning he has to choose assistants from outside his bubble.

The last time that happened, he turned down a job (Jets).

Throw in his comments about Joe Brady being "outside his comfort zone" and I think that idea's going to be a tough sell.

Mind you, any scenario that would make Rhule rage quit would be perfectly fine with me.

So let me get this straight, you're saying that Joe Person, a Panthers beat writer with inside access...(is) wrong.

Yes, that's exactly what I am saying.

F.J. Person doesn't have any "inside access"...what he has is some anonymous whiny-ass disgruntled agents who are playing him like a puppet, embarrassing for him.

(along with almost every other member of Panthers related sports media who have said that the wheels are falling off)

Who are you referencing here?  You're making it up now 🤣

and your proof are some PR articles of players

No the proof is what The Alpha Dog said on a 100% unsolicited basis 🙌

He will not get rid of ‘his guys’.  It simply won’t happen

he isn’t going to relinquish roster control

he isn’t a x and os guy either

why keep him ?

you see lefleur    McVay. Kingsburry   Other top coaches, calling   plays. This guy walls around looking confused at  a sheet

I don't think Cam has ever said anything negative or thrown any of his coaches/teammates under the bus. At least, not publicly.

He doesn't get it, and he's not going to.

There's better ways to be part of the conversation of course, and I've told him that before. But that's not what he wants, so... 😕

53 in the last 22 hours....good onya mate 😉

Heck you could take the missus to lunch and still be one pace upon your return 👍

See @travisura, this is another example. Rather than actually answering any of the things I've said, he remarks about my post count.

Again, I'm sure he thinks that makes some kind of point, but it's only in his head.

Agreed, but not relevant.

What is relevant is that in this case Cam unequivocally supported Rhule on a completely unsolicited basis.

He saw what was going on and knew it was wrong...and being the stand-up guy he is took it upon himself to right that wrong 🙌

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
