This can be a playoff team next year if we bring Cam back......

OR we could be a playoff team by firing Rhule and hiring Flores. Seems a lot easier?

Flores is a fantastic coach, but Tua is head and shoulders above any QB on the Panthers' roster. And the rest of his old team team isn't bad either. I don't think Flores in a vacuum is enough.

If only Cam had an all-time great coach. Then he'd certainly play like it's the early 2010s again!

(It's possible for them to both be insufficient for their roles)

Yeah but there’s clear evidence neither of the 4 qbs have had success under Rhule, you don’t need an all time coach but one that understand basics of the nfl is a start

I don’t see any all time coaches subbing out there qb multiple times during a game

"When you have two QBs, you have none." Panthers have that x2.

Plus, none of Bridgewater, Darnold, nor Walker were exactly luminaries elsewhere, but it's not like they totally nosedived in Panthers uniforms (vs. their prior stops). Bridgewater is easily the best of the other three, and his year in Carolina wasn't to dissimilar from his best years in NO or Minny, output-wise. Darnold looks a lot like the Jets version. And Walker started 2 games. I think it's a bit of a stretch to attribute their struggles to Rhule, when they have held pretty steady from their play for previous teams.

Old Cam would transform this team. The current version is too old and injury-plagued.

If you haven’t seen “cam is 0-13 in his last 13 starts as a panther” in nearly every thread that’s on you

Sure, but that is just as much "Cam is no longer the answer" vs. "Cam is the problem." He's really not producing that differently than Darnold, et al.

i’d still like to see cam with a great, winning coach, above average oline, top offensive receiving weapons and healthy cmc, and offensive scheme tailor fit for cam, top 5 ranked defense, and refs who know how to accurately call a game

i think he’d do well

So would most NFL starting quarterbacks.

It might be worth mentioning again, but I believe Cam was 0-13 in has last 13 starts as a Panthers QB.  Is there any other fan base that would continue to worship a quarterback with this type of record?  "But,but,but-- if we can just make the offensive line stronger, get a new coach, a better defense-- it's not Cam's fault", blah blah blah.

Seriously, the top of this forum has him doing his superman pose and he hasn't won a game as a Panthers starter since before he played for another team.

Posts like this make me laugh. You want to prove Cam is no longer a starting QB in the NFL and THAT is the stat you use? That is the most irrelevant stat you could have used LOL. I seriously wonder how some of you have made it this far in life. The average intelligence of this board is so astoundingly low and it all starts with posts like this.

The Carolina Panthers have not had a winning record in 4 seasons btw. With or without Cam Newton so to say it's all Cam's fault has to be one of the dumbest things I've read this early into the offseason. Way to go on that achievement bud

I’m not agreeing with op but going as far as he’s done etc I’m not going that far, team was trash, team has been trash under Rhule.

bridgewater before his injury was playing well compared to here last year

Sam posted arguable his worst season as a nfl starter

the 0-13 stat gets thrown out a lot around here with no context, in 7-9 of those games Newton posted good numbers. Point is the focus is on Newton not being adequate instead of the team in general isn’t adequate, fix the team then we can worry about getting a qb, Sam,cam, Teddy etc haven’t been put in a position to succeed and it’s evident

I think Flores with our talent on defense would be a playoff team. If he hires a good OC, we could get dangerous in a year or two. Tua wasn’t anything special this year, had a terrible OL like us and I feel like we have more talent on defense/overall than that Dolphins team.

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
