I hate to be that guy, but that chart stops at 2014.  We all know Cam was an elite player in his prime.  That said, 2021 Cam is probably still better in that situation than Darnold

Probably?

This is irrelevant.  Those statistics end in 2014.  Sure, we all know how otherworldly young Cam was.  That has no bearing on today.  It was EIGHT YEARS AGO.

Vast majority of Cam’s rushing TDs came after that chart ended.  Even last year he had his 2nd most rushing TDs and 2nd most first down pickups in a season.

You could find a chart from 2015-present day and Cam is still going to be statistically dominant on the ground.

Most the people on here don't watch the NFL

It means that when Cam runs the ball he's elite in both gaining more yard per rus than expected based on league averages and in a complete league of his own in terms of scoring more points per rush than expected based on league averages.

Note the dates too though, it's 2011-2014 for Cam, basically right in his prime as a runner.

OBVIOUSLY Cam is still in another world compared to Darnold and Rhule is a frigging retard for his comments about them being able to do the same thing. But Cam is also nowhere near as elite as a runner as he was in that timeframe. He's still great and one of the best red zone/short yardage weapons in the league, but just not as insane as this outdated graph shows.

Ok but the chart is specifically focused on rushing yards. I don't really know why it was relevant at all to post this chart. Everyone here already knows Cam is way better than Darnold at running and that Rhule is a fuging idiot but this chart and thread just make no sense. If we had a relevant chart to this year then by all means.

The chart had nothing to do with TD's . . . it was simply about yards over expected.

Statistically dominant?  By what measure?  Once you get past 2015, the most rushing TD's he had in a season while here was six.  Yes, he had 10 rushing TD's for New England last year, but he also equaled a career high in attempts and set a career low in yards per carry while also setting a career low in TD passes.

No one is arguing that Cam was never a great player.  In his prime there was no one like him.  But he's not that guy anymore.  Just like you can't have throwing Cam without running Cam, you can't having running Cam without throwing Cam . . . and throwing Cam is gone.

This doesn't mean he wasn't the best QB on our roster this year.  He was.  If he's here next year, he'll probably be the best QB on our roster then too.

But facts are facts.  The guy was on his couch when 32 could have called him.  Houston was starting a 3rd round rookie for heaven's sake.  The Redskins with Cam's former coach were starting Heinicke - Cam's former backup.  The Saints started Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston!

I love Cam, but he's not that guy anymore.  😞

well, it was random.  Same PFF guy has a different chart for this season.  Doesn’t include Cam as I guess he didn’t log enough snaps.

seeing where Teddy is and where Sam is….well, that’s Matt Rhule in a nutshell.   Getting worse.

Not arguing Cam is the guy anymore.  He isn’t.  And that’s because of his arm.   Which isn’t coming back.  Neither of which is the current convo.

But Cam is dominant on the ground.  Specifically short yardage.  That’s not an argument for anything.  It just is what it is.  You need one yard today or the last decade....Cam is the best option/threat for the scenario.  And that could land him a gig on a contender if he would accept that minimal yet important role

And yet so many people claim he's stealing RB TDs. So dumb.

Our red zone offense was crazy effective with Cam this year... The issue was getting there.

The red zone is a place I think we've seen a second QB can work depending on the tempo of the game.  If Cam is cool being a backup potentially I hope they bring him back to compete with another veteran FA for the QB spot (or with Darnold).

Ofc instead we signed PJ immediately so uh there's that.

    • Here are more fun facts about Peyton Manning's rookie season: Peyton ranked 3rd in total passing yards, 5th in passing touchdowns, 4th in 1st-down completions, 11th in TD%, and 8th in completions that were 20 yards or more.  Now let's look at how Bryce compared to his peers: 20th in total passing yards, 28th in passing TDs, 21st in 1st-down completions, 31st in TD%, and 27th in completions that were 20 yards or more.  To put it mildly, Peyton showed plenty of flashes as a franchise quarterback. Bryce? Not so much, almost none at all, as a matter of fact. Oh, and Peyton is legit 6'4", literally head and shoulders above Bryce. I sometimes wonder if Bryce defenders are sentient at all.
