Where did we have the opportunity to draft Burrow or Allen? Do you already forget how miserable the Bengals were before Burrow?

Well, this past draft was an opportunity to draft a potential Allen.  We passed on that and signed the worst QB in the NFL instead.

and Allen had a really rough rookie season (so you can’t really use the Fields didn’t look great argument).   But it’s why you draft talent at QB when you don’t have it.   5 wins with Fields would feel a lot different right now.  Because I’m sure he would have had those moments here like he did in Chicago vs the Steelers, SF, etc.

Has there ever been a draft without a future pro bowl QB in it? I don’t think there has been... and yes I know pro bowl isn’t an amazing qualifier but point is no matter how bad a draft may seem at QB there will always still be at least 1-2 guys who wind up being solid starters at worst

2013

E.J. Manuel: Buffalo Bills (Round 1, Pick 16)

Geno Smith: New York Jets (Round 2, Pick 39)

Mike Glennon: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Round 3, Pick 73)

Matt Barkley: Philadelphia Eagles: (Round 4, Pick 98)

Ryan Nassib: New York Giants (Round 4, Pick 110)

Landry Jones: Pittsburgh Steelers (Round 4, Pick 115)

4th Round: Tyler Wilson

7th Round: Brad Sorensen, Zac Dysert, B.J. Daniels, Sean Renfree

Fields isn’t Allen and that’s ok.

We don’t know what Fields will be.   Allen was trash as a rookie QB if you recall.

Fields is super talented and it showed in games like that prime time one vs the Steelers.   If the book is already written on Fields….then it would have been on Allen at the same time.

More excited and enjoyable watching teams like the Bills and Bengals play.

Thanks Rhule and Tepper for the experience.

For real, they got Tee higgins and Tyler Boyd ballin and we got Fatt Rhule wanting to reteach TMJ his gait/how to walk properly to be a great WR. Can't make up some of this stuff that comes out of his mouth.

    • He can’t.  Not by NFL standards.  More than enough evidence at this stage to make that determination.  For even a chance at one Bryce has to get perfect look and that’s not NFL football.  Bryce’s ball placement and accuracy are horrible downfield.  That applied at Bama.  Bama WRs just had room to adjust.  Bryce defenders just repeat this lie about his Bama deep ball.  NFL balls have to be well placed to dudes only NFL open.  Countless plays for years where dudes are NFL open downfield and Bryce just lets the DB have just as good as a shot at it or takes the WR out of bounds.  It’s not a debate.  Dudes flat out open this year on repeat.  He can’t make the throws.  So the talk about not having speed is auto debunked and a distraction.  Open is open and Bryce has gotten the looks
    • In 2021, Young only completed 10 passes of 20 yards or more, resulting in a 36.1% completion rate on such throws, according to AL.com. This was significantly less than other Alabama quarterbacks like Mac Jones in 2020 (29 completions, 58%) and Tua Tagovailoa in 2018 (24 completions, 57.1%).
    • False. During his best statistical season at Alabama, Bryce completed only 36.1% of passes longer than 20 yards. For comparison, his two predecessors Mac Jones and Tua had respectively completed 58% and 48.6% of throws longer than 20 yards.
