Pretty sure the completion % for Allen has always been where Cam struggled to reach even in his prime

A lot of it was offensive system. The Bills run the offense we should've ran. They take shots but there are plenty of quick hitter layups designed for YAC too. Shula had none of that. Virtually all of Cam's passes were downfield to blanketed receivers with hot/cold hands. We were consistently near the bottom of the league in YAC.

True, Cam was adjusting great to the checkdowns in 2018. prior to that he did have that habit of overthrowing the intermediate stuff the first couple of drives before he'd settle in. Maybe should have recognized that and let him settle in before calling those plays in hindsight

Our YAC numbers were bad because Cam had bad ball placement.

He rarely hit short to medium routes in stride. Recievers constantly had to adjust for him breaking their stride

We get it, man. You hate Cam. You'd rather watch us lose without Cam than win without him and watch him celebrate.

And you're wrong.

Why would I care if he celebrates.

The fact is he underperformed for us.

He should have been Mahomes, Wilson, Rodgers good.

    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
    • This thread is dumb. But I do think canales gets too cute with play calling and I don't think he's a good coach
