I've been thinking of this and imagine Rivera with a competent GM, he never really had one here. The closest was Gettleman and that's a stretch but he still basically won with him as the GM.

Eh, Rivera had plenty of weaknesses. He's like an Alex Smith of coaches, decent enough to maybe get you somewhere with absolute perfection around him (a la Ron in 2013 and 2015) but not good enough to win many games on his own/elevate a team.

He is better in every aspect than Rhule, but his time here was done. I wish Tepper would hire someone competent to run football operations and let him run it.

I whish we still had RON RIVERA. He is way way way better than this Clown circus we have NOW.

I think that this is the year that he and Rhule both have to make things happen or they'll both find themselves looking for another job. Year three is a crucial "prove it" year for coaches. (Actually in it is for players too) Rivera is ahead of Rhule, but he's also got a poo ton more experience so he should be.

I'm beginning to think of the trio, Tepper was the worst.

Never let yourself forget the atrocity that is Marty Hurney.

No one person has had more influence over the quality of this team than Marty.  Most every bonehead decision prior to Tepper can be traced to Marty.

Hes the worst, was always the worst, will always be the worst.

There's a part of me that's always going to wonder how things would have played out if Tepper had done the right thing and fired Marty first.

(I know we're already talking in another thread haha)

But Rivera with Fitterer would've been pretty damn great now that you mention it.

my guess is Ron still gets fired and good chance we still end up with Rhule.

What do you think would have happened?

    • FLA showed everyone it’s not about superstars. they bullied the best line in the NHL into obscurity. they played hard, were in the right positions, and ran over everything that got in their way.
    • That’s really not what you said and when I even expressed doubt as to your intentions with the post you doubled down and remained unclear on whether you were trying to drag Dean Smith for whatever reason. You just got the facts wrong, which if you don’t follow the local college programs like you say then maybe you just were mistaken and thought Smith didn’t win championships or have legit superstars, and that is ok, but you just doubled down when my first post was more corrective than anything. I’m not sure what you expect posting objectively false things like “RBA has a lot of wins with nothing to show for it like Dean Smith” (paraphrasing) on a message board with plenty of UNC fans. I’m not taking it as a personal affront, we can agree to disagree, Dean Smith’s legacy fortunately will not be affected by this conversation. Screw the (Florida) Panthers?
    • Bring in the free agents and trades.  Florida is the best team and unless Tulsky makes it happen, it’s more of the same…which isn’t bad…but it’s time to win a goddamn cup.
