One NFL GM's Top Ten Predictions

Via Mike Sando in the Athletic...

1. Jaguars: Evan Neal

2. Lions: Aidan Hutchinson

3. Texans: Kayvon Thibodeaux

4. Jets: Kyle Hamilton

5. Giants: Ikem Ekwonu

6. Panthers: Trevor Penning

7. Giants: Devin Lloyd

8. Falcons: Garrett Wilson

9. Broncos: Jermaine Johnson

10. Jets: Chris Olave

Regarding the Panthers pick...

Penning does not appear in the top 10 of most mock drafts, but the GM thought the 6-foot-7 prospect deserved consideration even higher than this.

“Penning won’t get past Carolina,” the GM predicted.

The GM said he thought there would be sufficient tackle options at No. 6, including Mississippi State’s Charles Cross, for Carolina to stay in this slot and land one.

But the Giants don't need an OT... or so I've been told by some here.  Even though countless mocks have them doing so.  Yes, Cross is our best option unless the Jets go defense...which I've stated a few times now.  The Giants may pass on Cross if Ekwonu/Neal are gone because he's a pure tackle without the guard flexibility.

Yeah, that stung me too.

I literally yelled at my TV when Detroit took Sewell.  Did Detroit necessarily need a tackle?  No, but again teams stack their board and he was likely the top guy remaining when they were on the clock.  Last draft stung me twice early by having both Lance and Sewell...my #1a and #1b guys snatched up before we had a chance to draft them.

    • it's pretty simple IMO.  The Tepper Panthers are the most unsuccessful professional sports in all of sports.  The problem isn't the posters here have changed.  The product dictates the atmosphere more than anything.  In reality, the daily convos about THE worst team in all of pro sports on a fanatics site....is going to feature harsh and critical convo.  Only one entity can actually change that.  It's the Carolina Panthers football team.
    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
    • if you believe he is watching every NFL game.....every week.....go right ahead.  I get it, he said something you like.  But that's like believing the talking heads on the ESPN shows are watching all the games.  You think Stephen A is watching the Panthers every Sunday too?  If Stephen A needs to go on First Take he certainly can pretend like he has watched every snap any player on the roster has taken lol.   No one is that isn't a Panther fan has been watching the 9-25 career go down every Sunday.  Or even a lot of Sunday's.  You know who knows more about Bryce Young than Long? The collective huddle.  What they are reviewing is stat sheets, highlights and in summaries.  It's an old formula lol.
