The Panthers have a lot of leaks coming from our staff

Nah, Rivera was just as leaky. Its a front office thing, probably started with Hurney. It was revealed weeks before the draft that the Panthers were desperate for Brian Burns and he was the clear #1 on their board, and that was still the old regime

Edit: Same with Little in that draft, Panthers were taking him if Burns wasn't there, and then after round 1 it was leaked that the Panthers were trying to trade up for Little

Just now, Verge said:

Some amateur front office people and coaching staff that treat the NFL like college.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. You made a great point about Russell Wilson and his trade…the same can be said about Dallas and Cooper, Wentz etc. We seem to know ever detail about deals we are interested in and every conversation we have with other teams about moves that may or not be even a realistic option.

Poo'd just because of "Junkie Rhule" pic that ruined my morning.

Good post tho. I say that we leak intentionally. we didn't leak henderson trade or gilly trade, or darnold trade really.

I will say I didn't hear anything about the Henderson one. Darnold and Gilly on the other hand..

Of course, we are considered the front runners for Watson because we are leaking and the press is reporting it--but am I hoping that we do not sign Watson--yes--but there is this:  What will this front office do if we do not get Watson?  They will go after the next Darnold.

    • I encourage you to go back and watch his college play. Notice how he immediately backpedals to 10 yards behind the LOS on almost every snap. You can't do that in the NFL. Your OTs have no chance of keeping those freak show edge rushers off of you. You can't create a pocket that deep. Bryce can chuck it when he has an airport runway in front of him to step up into. There's a reason why "ease of creating velocity" is such a talking point evaluating QBs. It's not how hard or how far you can throw the ball given a perfect situation. It's how hard and how far you can throw the ball in a typical NFL game situation and that's where a lot of my concerns with Bryce were going into the draft. There were way too many plays in his college tape that if you were watching that purely in terms of translating it to the NFL it just didn't work.
    • Yeah, like I said I get it. From a revenue perspective I'm not a good customer for them. They've probably intentionally tanked offline franchise mode to try to get people online. Again, not a terrible strategy from a pure business perspective. I can't really be mad at them for doing what's good for business but yeah, from my perspective it still sucks.
    • Ok let me be more specific. Smith was a stud before Newton got here do you not agree? Yes, LaFell improved under Cam but then had his best years after leaving the Panthers with Cam as the QB and going to NE. So he improved playing with someone else. Olsen was in Chicage the year before Cam arrived and statistically had the same numbers his first year with Cam.  Hope that's clearer for you.
