Thoughts on putting Cam behind this line?

With these FA signings I'd love to get rid of Darnold and have Cam back with Willis sitting and learning. Who knows how much Rhule is impacting those decisions right now but that'd be my ideal

Legacy. Don't destroy it. Allow it to be passed forward, like after Cam and this defense take the NFCS and more. Give the young man a redshirt NFL year or two, PJ already got two and you may have the next Mike Vick. He ran an unofficial 4.2 40. I'm not mad at them wanting to see if he's a Vick type weapon because he was a huge weapon.

At some point we gotta get out of the way back machine and move on from Cam. As much as the real fans loved him(the ones who hated him were never really Panthers fans), he isn't a full time starter in the NFL anymore.

Let's move on to whatever the next chapter is in our Browns like QB carousel.

I love Cam but I just don't see why he should come back, either on his side or the teams... I'd like to see him compete for a ring some place... He clearly still has it in the red zone and maybe more with competent coaching and players around him.

While he would be a good mentor I think, he just wasn't particularly effective as a starter and so I could see them going in a different direction even if the goal is to mentor a rookie for a few games.

Unfortunately you are probably right. It's hard for me to accept that because Cam holds a special place in my heart for how much he sacrificed his body for the team and how nice a guy he is off the field. I see where you are coming from and almost feel as if I'm backstabbing him admitting that he isnt what he once was and unfortunately probably does need to retire as a Panther and move on to using that electric personality in the booth or even consider coaching to keep busy. The guy has charisma for days and grew into a quality leader so he has much he could do after football but unfortunately yes I agree he is probably done and we have to move forward as much as it pains me to say.

I hope he is able to stick around(in the NFL) as a back up QB for a few years and maybe finally get a ring. It won't be here, very unfortunately but he deserves it. He deserves it for everything he gave and one of our stars deserves to finally get one.

What have you seen from him as a coach that would make you think otherwise?

Not sure about the other guy but I can tell you what I've seen from him as a coach. So far in his career I've seen ineptness and someone who looks lost as well as overmatched week in and week out. I've also seen extreme ego to the point that I don't see how this combined with his high level narcissistic personality that any player on the roster could get behind him or even believe in him. That's about all our leader Rhule has shown me personally.

I don't want to sound too goofy and emotional but seeing my now 12 year old grow up from just a tiny little guy screaming for Cam on the TV and pretending to be him in the yard from such a young age it absolutely made me view him as part of my family and feel genuine love for the guy. To see him week in and week out start the trend of giving footballs to kids after TD's in the stadium and then see it almost vanish when he was shown the door may me realize how much of a powerful good loving culture he brought to the team and the city of Charlotte. To watch him grow from someone who would get frustrated at himself and down on himself when he had a rough game his first couple years to a man who was a full fledged leader was also very special to watch for me personally. Out of every player I have ever rooted for and got behind in the history of this franchise I never felt like I put more emotion and more love behind than Cam so it's been hard to say goodbye in my mind. He is still my son's favorite athlete and still talked about at least a few times per week. I just can't believe how much of an affect he had on my child and myself for that matter while also being such a good fella off the field. It's hard to explain for me I guess but he was more to my family than just a player.

It's very sad to see him so physically diminished when we saw him be that "Superman." But he played in a way that doesn't leave a lot left in the tank and it took a toll on his body, no matter how willing his mind was.

But, you know, it was a wild ride. He gave us the best season in our team history and left as hands down the greatest offensive weapon the franchise ever had.

I hope for his sake he goes to a quality playoff team as a backup/situation player. He deserves a ring.

that said if by the small chance we drafted someone like Malik I’d be down for him to come back. That’s just if we draft a qb that is raw.

last thing I heard on cam was he had meetings with Seattle and one other team. I think it might have been the browns before they traded for dw.

We all know that Cam Newton struggled after rejoining the Panthers midway through the 2021 campaign. There is no reason why the Panthers should even entertain the notion of bringing him back

There’s no need to hide the truth. The Cam Newton experiment and reunion mostly bombed for the Panthers last season, enough to the point that one would rationally believe the team would have less than zero interest in bringing him back in 2022.

    • Just trying to make talk, draft is over and still 5 months till the season.
    • Lol I checked again and they had removed that part, but it’s still on the page they linked. Walter Football gave them an A- grade and also threw a heavy dig at them for passing on Stroud hahaha
